The carnival will be held dur ing the week of October 11 to 16. The club received notice last week that due to unavoidable breakdowns, the Kaus Exposition Shows, which will furnish the midway attractions for the festival, would be unable to arrive before October 11. The club voted at its meeting last Friday to change the date for the affair to October 11. Huxter, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Huxter, of Richmond. The ceremony was performed at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. H. D. Hrown, Jr., officiating. EPWORTH GROUP MEETS The Epworth Group of Christian Service of the Hertford Methodist Church held its regular monthly meeting at the home of Miss Ruth Tucker on Tuesday evening. The meeting was called to order by the president, Miss Ida Lee White, and the secretary, Miss Minnie W. Wood, read the minutes and called the roll. A very interesting program was presented by the leader, Mrs. Chas. ISkinner. Taking part on the pro gram were Mrs. Skinner, Kittie Joe Beasley, Minnie Wilms Wood and Peggy Felton. During the social hour the hostess served delicious iced cola, sandwiches and cakes to the following members: Ida Lee White, Peggy Felton, Anne Matthews, Mary Proctor, Mildred Gault, Syble Skinner, Kuth Tucker, Kittie Joe lieasley, Doris liyrum, Mrs. Charles Skinner and Mrs. Win. Tucker. Everyone was reminded to be at the. next meeting on the evening of October 12th, at the home of Ida Lee White. Kittie Joe Beasley will have charge of the program. HOSTESS TO. BRIDGE CLUB Mrs. B. G. Koonce entertained her bridge club on Tuesday evening at her home. Those playing were Mes dames V. N. Darden, R. M Kiddick, J. G. Roberson, Herman Winslow, J. O. Felton, W. G. Wright, Charles Whedbee, and Miss Kate Blanchard. High score prize went to Mrs. Darden, and second high to Mrs. Whedbee. The hostess served a sweet course. ENTERTAINS AT BRIDGE Mrs. Max Campbell was hostess at a lovely bridge party at her home on Market Street oh Tuesday evening. Those playing were Mesdames H. C. Stokes, T. L. Jessup, C. R. Holmes, C. M. Williford, Chas. K. Johnson, G. W. Barbee, and Misses Helen Morgan and Mary Sumner. High score prize went to Mrs. Johnson, floating prize to Miss Sumner and Miss Helen Morgan re ceived low score award. The hostess served a sweet course. SHAMBURGER GROUP MEETS The Delia Shamburger Missionary Society of the Methodist Church met with Mrs. D. F. Reed on Monday evening.
