White. aug25septl,8,15,22,29 Dear Sir: I am writing to let you! know how much I appreciate getting 'ine Perquimans Weekly. I enjoy reading the home news and finding out what is happening there these days. There is lots of news I find out by reading the paper that all my friends forget to say anything about; when they write me. 1 read the paper more now than I ever did be tore 1 came in the Army. I thought I had too much running around to do when I was home to read the paper very much, but when a fellow gets a long ways from home it helps , the morale a lot to read .of things' that are happening back home when' he's not with any of his old pals that he had back hqme. borne times 1 see where -Ahey-are getting a few draft dodgers who have been dodg ing the draft for two years or more. That's somethng that really helps the morale of an old fighting sol dier. Sometimes I see where some of the boys gripe about being so far from home and still in the States. They better wait until they leave the States and they might find some thing to gripe about then. I see' where some of the boys have been In i service long enough to get a Good; Conduct Medal. They think that's a big thing to wear. I guess it is for some boys. But wait until they get three or four or more medals, then they will have something to write home about. Mr. Campbell, I think it's real nice of the Bank to send the boys in service the home town paper. I hope I continue to receive it as long as possible. "Keep 'em rolling until it's over." Cpl.
