f rAUJS TWW ALLOWANCES MATO TO SELF.EMPLOYED t TS ? ' ffTfUlfflftlld mmm Pmam f mav annlv for thctaa in tima 4ritMi two year after his discharge or two years alter tne end or the war, which ever is tne tatter date (but not more than five years after the war has been declared over.) Of course, each vet eran has to decide for himself when he comes home whether he wants to go to work right away and claim al lowances till he gets set either in a job or for himself or whether he wants to let them stand as a reserve against a time he might need them more in months to come. Now what is meant by full self -employment in agriculture under the G. I. Bill? The case of each veteran is considered separately. The purpose of the G. I. Bill is clear in that it was meant to assist veterans who are attempting to set themselves up in business. The law specifies that an individual must be fully engaged in an independent op eration for profit, and in addition, must be doing those things which are reasonably calculated to promote the success of his undertaking. The fact that a veteran devotes his full time to farming activities is not alone suf ficient to qualify him as self-employed. A person may be employed on the farm in the same manner as he may be employed in a factory, work ing at all times under supervision, though the method of determining his compensation may differ.
