Bringing farmers $1.10, oats were down one : cent per bushel. Prices received by North Carolina farmers as of January for grains and meat animals showed sharp decreases as compared with those of December, according to an estimate released by the Statistics Division of the State Agriculture Department Although hogs averaged $20.50 per hundred pounds in January, showing a decline of $1.50 per hundred, they were still at a high level in relation to the old OPA ceilings of around $14.55. Beef cattle were down 20 cents, bringing an average of $14.50 per hundred. Veal calves averaged $17.10 a decline of 10 cents per hundred from December 15. How ever, lamb prices wVre up 30 cents, . averaging $17.80, and sheep, selling ' at $8.50, averaged 10 cents higher per hundred.
