He has continued in that position until this time. He has a twenty-year cer tificate of service to North Carolina farming issued by the National Ex tension Fraternity, Epsilom Sigma Phi. Director Schaub said, yesterday that Mr. Ferguson's request has been granted. In accepting it the Director said, "You have been a faithful and dependable servant of the people and we shall have a hard ttme finding one so unselfish and devoted to duty." County Agent Advises Local Poultry Raisers Poultry raisers in Perquimans County are advised this week by I. C. Yagel, County Agent, trt plan with care the production of grain crops to feed local flocks as a remedy to the short corn crop and the shortage of other small grain, which is foreseen due to exports to foreign countries. Mr. Yagel stated the poultryman's best solution to these shortages is to plant as much small grain as is pos sible and practical this fall. This production will offset the high costs of purchasing grain for poultry. He also advised poultrymen to make the best use of every pound of feed, not to feed culls, rats, lice, etc. Careful inspection of the flock will weed out the culls and any birds that are too thin or light in weight for MILK CUSTOMERS t t Weather forecasters are busy these 4 days trying to figure out the weather 4 we can expect in the months ahead . . . The , new plan, according to Ser geant Cayton, enables a young man to choose, before enlisting, three tech nical schools offering training in which he is interested. If qualified, he is assured of being sent to one of these schools after completing basic training. Former service men are as signed directly to the school of their choice. Any high school graduate between 17 and 34 years of age is eligible to apply. So are non-high school gradu ates if they can document the equiv alent education. Young men who desire training under the aviation career plan may enlist for three, four or five years. Those showing ability and leadership and who are otherwise qualified are eligible to apply for ofTWer candidate school or for flying training as avia tion cadets. Young men, or their parents, who are interested in obtaining full de tails of the new aviation career plan should contact the local Army and Air Force recruiting sergeant each Thursday at the Post Office in Eden ton or the recruiting office located at 202 Kramer Building, Elizabeth City.
