A. H. Ward, owner of the Dare
County Ice & Storage Company at
manteo is attempting to provide
bigger and better Oregon Inlet and
deeper channel leading into Pamlico
Sound , in order to bring maximum
benent to the seafood industry of the
whole region from bdenton to Bel
haven.
According to Mr. Ward, the lack of
waters of proper depth for" the entry
of fish and for accommodations of
vessels engaged in the industry has
oecome a matter of much concern as
leaders in the seafood industry have
noted a serious decline in income dur
ing recent years.
Mr. Ward says that while the
problem directly affects fishermen, it
indirectly affects many other busi
ness men, so that -a movement should
be organised to work for the desirea
improvements in the .waterways, i He
nas, therefore, sent letters to numer
ous persons in about ' ten counties
which have heavy .fishing interests to
join hands in a united effort to do
something for the fishermen. He
