Roughly, 13,500,000-pounds of shell 4d peanuts amounts to 19,300,000 pounds of farmers stock peanuts, ap proximately 195,000 bags. In addition, Johnson revealed that the association had purchased ap proximately 11 million pounds of farmers stock peanuts of the 1947 crop directly from producers for which they have been paid 1947 crop support prices. Of these 11 million pounds, sales have been confirmed to oil mills for approximately two mil lion pounds. , All the peanuts involved in these transactions were produced in the area served by the GPC, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and the nertheastern part of South Carolina. Warehouses throughout this area will be open through June 30 to purchase merchantable Farmers Stock Peanuts of the 1947 Crop at government sup port prices. Growers Peanut Cooperative,' Inc., with headquarters in Franklin, Va., is a farmer-controlled organization in corporated under the laws of the State of North Carolina. Its officers and directors are farmers and -represent all sections of the four-state I area. It was organized in 1940 to stabilize the ruinous price of peanuts.
