constructed here by the A. Harris
family, which will house the Don Juan
manufacturing unit, is progressing
' rapidly and is , expected to be ready
for occupancy about June 15, accord
ing to Jesse Lee and Edison Harris,
who are superintending the construc

" The building is being constructed of
concrete blocks and is 50 feet wide by
1600 feet in length. It is located on
ik lot adjacent to the Harris store
oVCrubb Strut.
4ust as soon as tne Duiiding is
completed, according to Mr. Harris,
it will be occupied by the Don Juan
Company, which is expected to in
crease its employee list from the
present number to about 135 people.
The expansion program of the com
pany, which moved here late last fall,
is also expectsd to be a boost for the
local payroll figures. The payroll of
the Don Juan Company is expscted to
jump to somewhere near ?3,000 per
ireek.

Mrs. Winston E. Lane was a most
charming hostess to a number of
friends Saturday afternoon at her
home near Burgess complimentary to
her little daughter, Annie Lou, who
was celebrating her tenth birthday
anniversary.
Guests gathered on the. lawn at 3
o'clock, where games and contests
were enjoyed, with Emma Overton,
Annette Proctor, Julia Mae Boyce and
Chip Britt winning prizes.

ushered in the house, where they

Miss Lina Winslow, bride-elect, was
honoree at a miscellaneous shower, on
Friday evening, April 2, at 8 o'clock
at the kewie of Mrs. Earl Winslow.
Mrs. Robert Hewitt was in charge
of the games and assisted the hos
tess. Many prizes were won, which
were graciously presented to tile hon
oree. Delicious refreshments were
served to all.
Those present and sending gifts
were: Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Gregory,
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph White, Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Robertson, Mr. and Mrs.
Winfred Winslow, Mr. and Mrs. Wil
bur Robertson, Mr. and Mrs. George

invited in the dining room by Mrs.
Lane. The table was covered .with a

three-tier birthday cake decorated
with pink and green and flanked by
double candelabra holding- tall pink
tapers. All the children sang "Happy
tji ! Birthday" as Annie Lou entered,

ice cream, cookies and candy on plates
which carried the pink and green
color scheme.
The birthday cake was cut and
passed. As the guests left the dining
room they were each favored with a
balloon, and candy Easter eggs were
passed.
All assembled in the living room,
where the honoree opened and ac
knowledged Her many beautiful gifts.

CIRCLE NO. 4 MEETS
Circle No. 4 of the Baptist Church
met Monday night, April 5, with Mrs.
J. E. Everett, with Mrs. T. E. Madre
presiding. A hymn was sung and a
prayer by Mrs. Madre. Roll called
with 14 members present, and busi
ness discussed. Mrs. G. C. Buck had
charge of a very interesting program.
A Jtymn was then sung and a prayer
by Mrs. Tom Perry. Miss Mamie
Stallings gave the devotional, follow
ed by a prayer by, Mrs. Mark Greg
ory. Those taking part on the pro
gram were Mr8. Robert White, Mre.
J. E. Everett, Mrs. E. Y. Berry and
Mrs. Colon Jackson. The meeting was
closed with a hymn and prayer, after
which refreshments were served. The
May meeting will be with Mrs. Mark
