' She was the daughter of the late Joseph 'and Alice Boyce and a life long resident of Perquimans County. Survivors include" her husband, E. D. Copeland; one son, Howard E. Copeland of Winfall; four daughters, Mrs. Mamie E. Cartwright of Hert ford, Mrs. Edna May White of Win fall, Mrs. Pearl Nixon. of Hampton, Va., Mrs. Nellie C. Chamberlin of Farmington, New Hampshire; two brothers, Horace and Jep Boyce of Perquimans County; one sister, Mrs. Liza Chappell of Perquimans, and 11 grandchildren." ' , " Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Lvnch Funeral Home by the Kev. E. G. Willis, assisted by the Rev. J. R. Byerly. The choir of the Mt. Siani and Win fall churches pang "The Haven of Rest" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bve." The choir was accompanied by Mrs. Hazel Mathews at the organ. Interment was in (Jedarwood ceme tery. NO INJURIES REPORTED . IN SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT A Negro school bus ran down a six foot embankment two miles west of Hertford on the Center Hill highway Wednesday afternoon at about 3:45 o'clock and turned over on its side in a ditch, Patrolman H. L. White re ported Thursday. The bus was on its rounds' transporting children to their homes. Some 40 to 45 students were on the bus at the time of the accident- but none were injured except the driver, Eva Revells, who suffered - minor bruises. The driver of the bug was charged with reckless driving and will be given a hearing . in Recorder s Court next Tuesday. UP-RIVER WOMAN'S MISSIONARY SOCIETY MEETS The Up-River Woman's Missionary Society met Saturday '"afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lafayette Lane. Mrs. Elisha Winslow conducted the devotional. "Sweet Peace" was used a3 the opening song. Scripture' read ing and prayer followed, i! Mrs. Elizabeth White and Mrs. Robert Winslow gave the lesson on China. The minutes were read and approv ed. A large number of visits had been made to the sick during the past month. i. A thank offering to be used for mis sions was taken. The society also distributed twelve lovely baskets of fruit to sick and elderly persons dujr ing the Thanksgiving holidays.
