Juveniles. :: -.::.,,..;; ; P. T. A. STUDY GROUP MET A study group meeting was held in the Belvidere i Community Friday night, January 14, at the home of Mrs. Claude Winslow. . . The subject for the meeting was "The, Truth About Report Cards", which was given by the leader, Mrs. Claude Winslow. Mrs. Edwin White gave an article on "Why Schools Are Different Now", Mrs. Fernando Chopped read a poem "Memories". Mrs. Linwood Winslow gave an ar ticle on "Should a Teacher Visit Her Pupils' Home". A very interesting discussion on the subject was con ducted with all taking part. During the social hour the hostess served lemonade, cookies and candy. BETHEL NEWS The Bethel Ruritan Club met Wed nesday P. M., January 12, at Mr.sGat ling's store; Edgar and Julian Long were appointed as delegates to attend the Ruritan Convention being held at Roanoke, Va. The Bethel Home Dem onstration Club served a delicious ham supper. Private Ray Harris from Camp Le jeune spent Friday night with his parents. Motion was made, second ed, and passed, authorizing payment of note for $170.00 to . the Hertford Banking Company for money borrow ed by veterans, 'in construction of agriculture building. The Board v discussed the consoli dation of Winslow Grove and Nicanor Schools. This consolidation was for mally approved. Superintendent was authorized to advertise the Winslow Grove building for sale. , Brief review of expenditures to date in the county school budget was presented by the Superintendent. -, He stated that ; the expenditures item 641, "repairs to buildimr and grounds", would probably exceed the Midget for that particular item, but inat total expenditures would be kept within the budget for fiscal year. A request from Mrs. Paulinp i. Bateman, of Columbia. N. C. for damage caused to her car by a school bus on April 27, 1948, was presented and discussed.
