V MINUTES OF MEETIHG" BOARD ;OF EDUCATION 1 . ' The OBoard of Education t;Io the September meeting- held September 2, 1949, at 7:30 P. M. All members were presents Mr. t- Julian AW'bite, chairman, .presided. '., ' "'' ,-) The minutes of the '"last meeting were read and approved. The committee :, investigating cost of lots and moving houses on property adjoining Hertford High School re ported some progress had been 'made but a full report would be made later. Motion made, seconded and passed to accept whatever bid is placed on Oak Hill School property on Septem ber 3, 1949. vv-a , The committee appointed to meet with the architect and State Plan ning Committee reported that an agreement had been reached with re spect to plana for the gymnasium and agriculture building and itnat the ar chitect should soon nave nnar draw ing ready to present for approval, The secretary explained the proced ure and forms necessary to complete the survey and application for State echool building funds. , In compliance with (S. B. 343) Chapter 115 of the General Statutes of North Carolina which directs that "The County Board of Education of all county administrative units shall, by proper resolution duly recorded, appoint a treasurer of all special school funds for each individual school in the administrative unit," the following are hereby appointed' treasurers of individual schools: P. C. H. S. Mrs. Burros Chappell. Hertford Grammar School Mrs. Mary Etta Walters. Perquimans County Central Gram mar School Mrs. Lucille White. Hertford High School Hazel 0. Beamon. Perquimans Training School Mrs. I. E. Rogerson. Bethel (Annie V. Nixon. Chinquapin Nellie Holley. Galatia Myrtle S. Felton. Willow Branch Edna S. Zachary. Nicanor Rosa Newby. Bay Branch-rMarriet OL. Winslow. The Board unanimously approved the election of Elizabeth L. (Byrd of Edenton as a helping teacher for the Negro schools. J- Superintendent reported that hie had been unable to find'a qualified person who would accept 'the position as helping teacher in the white schools. He wil' continue i to look 'for qualified person for another six weeks. : ''-' Superintendent was instructed to investigate the possibilities of a blanket insurance policy for all child ren in Perquimans County. A com mittee composed of Mr. White, Mrs. Cooke, Mr. Caddy and Mr. Biggers was appointed to pass on the insur-i ance" proposition.
