The program "Christmas for Chil dren Every where," was presented by s the 'Old Neck and white Hat com munities with Mrs. Freeman Umph lett as chairman.: "Silent Night" was sung followed by a duet, Christ mas Voices," by Motoie'Lou Yeates and Mm. Leroy Dail accompanied by Mrs. Dewey Yeates. Mrs. Horace Miller gave the devotional. Annie Bee Stokely recited the poem, "Christ mas." A group, Mollie Lou Yeates, Mrs. George Baker, Mrs. MeMa Eure, Mrs. Leroy Dail, Jatnes Umphlett and Garland Eure sang "White Christ mas." Mrs. Melvin Eure gave an in teresting Christmas reading. Mrs. M. D. Lane, president, presid : ed during the business session. ' The President's message and the . minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Elijah White, secretary. It. was reported that Chapanoke wotrid have the next study group meeting with Mrs. Eramett Stalling X. and Mrs. W. H. Heading administrative departments are a general counsel, an auditor, di rector of safety, purchasing and pris ons and two administrative assist ants to the chairman, one for persen nel and the other for public relations. The Commission derives its income from automobile use taxes and federal aid, especially the gasoline tax, but the expenditure of these funds comes under the careful scrutiny of the Leg islature, the Budget Bureau and the personnel department. Each bien nium the Legislature authorizes the expenditure of certain funds for road construction,- improvement and main tenance.
