Fcrm Sli:p Says County Agent The safety and usefulness of a farm . workshop depends, upon the condition and arrangement of the shop and its , equipment, says County Agent I. C. Yagel of the State College Extension Service. He points out that now is a good time for farmers to put their shops in order and do any remodeling or re arranging which may be needed. The well-equipped farm shop, ays Mr. Yagel, will serve as the center of activity for a great variety of farm repair and construction jobs. Auto and tractor repairing can be perform ed more readily in a well-equipped shop. With the present extensive use of machinery, farm workshops should be arranged and equipped to eyste-j matically overhaul, repair, and possi bly repaint many of the farm ma chines during the winter. Not only will such machines last longer, but many of days of lost time during the following summer be avoided. If the shop is properly designed for orderliness, good light, comfort and convenience, the work is certain to be easier, safer and more efficient. The National Safety Council suggests the following check-list as a guide in the arrangement and maintenance of a farm workshop. Weatherproof the snop ana equip it with a heating stove. Reserve one side of the shop for re pairing large machinery, and install large garage-type doors direotly in line with this area. The shop should contain large win- .dows to admit as much light as possi ble. A concrete floor be recommended. Paint the interior a light color or whitewash it to improve visibility. There should be work benches along the walls with drawers under them. Have a definite storage space for tools and supplies. Keep everything in its place. Some or all of the following equip ment properly arranged will increase the efficiency of the shop: forge, grinder, drill press, lathe, chain hoist, air compressor, welder, clamps, tool toter. Gold Star Buttons Now Available Here Gold Star Lapel Buttons are now available without charge to widows and parents of those members of the armed forces who lost their lives in World War ,11 according to Stephen H. Alford, District Officer of the State Veterans Commission. Under the terms of Public Law 306, 80th Congress, children, brothers and sisters are eligible to purchase one of these buttons. They cost about $1.60 each, i ? "Only one Gold Star can be furnish ed any one individual, so they should be carefully safeguarded," Mr. Alfotd cautioned. The wearer's initials are engraved on the back of each button before issuance so they can be idenii- fied if lost or misplaced. "Those desiring to apply for one of these Gold Star Buttons will be furnished application blanks and any assistance necessary in completing them," Mr. Alford said. The girl is Ellen Barrow of Jones County, whose project was supervised by G. T. Wiggins, assistant county agent for the State College Extension Service. 'Following is an account of Ellen's project work in her own words: "The chicks given me were proper ly taken care of with only three dying. I have furnished chickens and eggs for family use which paid for the cockerels which I sold for $15, and 12 were returned to t.ie farm agent to be sold. M The remaining 78 have laid 11,- 016 eggs, 8,719 of which I sold for $365.80. I received $10 prize money. had enough money to pay for (he starting and growing mash. After all the expenses have been deducted and I sell the remaining chickens I will have enough money to purchase five $100 government bonds, which I believe will pay my tuition, room, and board for one year in col lege." Sunday School Lesson (Continued From Page Nine) baptism. Remission, or forgiveness of sins, comes by repentance and faith. Baptism is the way one shows to the world his death to sin and the old life of sin and his resurrection to a new spiritual life in Christ. In obedience to the demands of God's Spirit, upon their sin-convicted souls, three thousand people gave themselves up to God. This initial act of obedience was fallowed by a life of loyalty and prayer. Such was the result when these early Chris tians were empowered for their task of witnessing for God.
