We wish to assure- them that at the Red Crosa Blood Center, they wiU, be given a careful examination as to blood pressure, red blood count and general fitness to give -blood. . All necessary precautions are taken so that one may feel sure that if he is passed as a donor there will be no bad after-effects. You will be alble-to re turn to your" work and will not feel weak or ilL An accepted donor may make repeated gifts of blood at each visit of the Red Cross unit without any fear of physical harm. . C. The leader, - Mrs. Lillie Johnson, having been confined to her home because of illness, was greatly missed by each one present.' TO PRESENT PLAY The Belvidere Home Demonstration Club will sponsor the presentation of playt The Twelve- Old MaidsVat the Perquimans Central Grammar School Thursday, night, May 18, at 8 o'clock. The cast of characters are members of the Ward's Home Demon stration Club of Chowan County,, who have given this play , twice in .Chowan, where the comedy was greatly re ceived. The Belvidere Club will use its part of the proceeds of the play to purchase needed equipment for the Community House in the locality. CIRCLE MEETING - The Rosa Powell Circle met Tues day night, May 9, at the home of Mrs. John Ward. The meeting opened by lainging "I've Found a Friend." The devo tional was given by Mary F. Dail, followed by prayer by Mrs. Dawson. A reading, 'Chri8t In Your Home," was given by Hazel Dail. Members than sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer," and the meeting was dis missed with the Lord's Prayer. The members' complimented Anne A. Nowell with a surprise shower. The hostess served refreshments. - W. M. U. MEETING The county-wide W. M. U. meeting will be "held Wednesday, May 17, at 10:30 in Whiteville Grove Church. AH members are urged to note date and time. FLEETWOOD WHITE Fleetwood A. White, 55, brother of Mrs. L. T. Phillip's and Mrs. W. J. Farmer of this county died at Duke Hospital last Sunday afternoon. Born in Perquimans County, he was the son of Mattie Irene Fleetwood and Charles F. White. 'Funeral services were conducted at the late home in Kenly, N. C, on Tuesday. Onley Poet of the Veterans of Foreign Ware met last Monday night and made plans for holding a dance at the VFW Hall on Saturday, May 27, it was an nounced today by Post Adjutant Henry Ohristgou. The members also made plans to observe Poppy Day and Edgar White waa named as chairman of a commit tee in charge of poppy sales. Newly installed officers of the local post are Broughton Dail, Commander; Elliott Layden, vice-commander; Car son Banks, junior commander; Ottis White quartermaster, and Henry Christgou Adjutant. Baptist Church Bequeathed $1,000 The Hertford BaDtist Churdi WAS bequeathed the-sum of $1,000 by the late Mrs. William Madre. according t j an announcement made by the Rev. C. W. Duling, pastor of the church. The srift to the church wa& mad ac cording to the will of Mrs. Madre who was a long time member of the church nere. The Rev.
