Brown of Edenton was hoBtess at a tea at the Mayflower Ho tel in Washington, D. C, honoring Miss Polly Tucker who is to be mar ried, June 22. Those present were Miss Tucker, honoree, Mesdames Leigh Fairbanks, C. E. Burleson, Ralph Sullivan, Carter Lowell, Miss Katheryn Brown, Miss Celia Blanche Dail and Mrs. Walter Cornell. HOME DEMONSTRATION MEETS -The Burgess H.DJC. met Wednes day afternoon with Mrs. Walton (Lane. The meeting opened by singing, "Hail Club Women, Crowned With Service." Mrs. Tommie Matthews gave the de votional from John 8: '30-36, followed by prayer and a beautiful thought for the day. Minutes were read and roll was called. Announcements were made concerning Farm and Home Week. Mrs, Tommie Matthews was appoint ed to serve on the 1951 .program com mittee. Clothing leader, Mrs. A. M. Copeland, reported on What's iNew." liars. Walton Lane reported on two books. Mrs. Nina B. White gave an interesting demonstration on, "At tractive Eating Corners." The meetinsr was closed with the Collect. Mrs. Lane conducted a corn contest with Mrs. H. S. Davenport winning the prize. Those present were Mrs. C S. Davenport, Mrs. Tommie Matthews, Mrs., Sidney Lay den, Mrs. Joslaft Proctor, Mrs. J. B. Basnight, Mrs. Walton Lane, Mrs. Howard Matthews, Mrs. A. M. Copeland and Mrs. Nina B. White. . Batting Averages Coach Ellie Fearing, Perquimans High School,, today, released the bat ting averages for the Indians for the past baseball season.. The Indians won 15 games and lost one.
