Shanklin, cotton specialist for the State College Extension Service, warns cotton growers in North Caro lina to make provisions for saving their own sed from the 1960 crop or face a critical shortage of seed next spring. J- The seed shortage extends through out the Cotton -Belt, according to snankiin, and win prevent areas which formerly supplied surplus seed from doing so next spring. The State College specialist further estimates that about one-fourth of all the seed produced in the State this year will be ' needed to plant next year's crop. i" ' i Not much more than 6 per cent of the seed produced is ordinarily need ed for the next years crop in worth Carolina.
