North Carolina had 184 more-deaths'
in 1960 than in the previous, year.

1949. Traffic fatalities in the state
increased 16 per cent, which compares
with an 11 per cent average increase
in the nation for 1950, according to
National Safety Council statistics. The
national toll in 1950 was 36,000 lives,
against 31,600 in 1949.
