stration work in Perquimans County

our fame-making activities, getting
ready for our nationwide Home Dem
onstration Week. We were ' feeling
real proud of our accomplishments, so
we -decided to tell, Hie people of the
county about some of them. "
, One of our major ;ceonipli6hinents
during the past .year was the or
ganization of jtWo new clubs. They
are Woodville. and BagJey Swamp.
Both clubs are small, but they are
growing membership and, leadership.
This brings our county total to fifteen
clufes.:; ii
' Anoitiher accomplishment was iBethel
and Hopewell's new community house.
' Although they didn't .pay for the
' building, the. ID. C. women to both
clubs-have .served dinners and used
. ithe jproceeds to. buy "silverware for
"100, dinnerware, a kitchen range,
Venetian blinds, chairs and a piano.
" We," would also like, to mention our
Music Appreciation Program. This
- 'year , our county music appreciation
' chairman and one of our directors at-
tended a training school at ECTC held
, by Or. Wilman, and as a follow-up of
'this, we have had two county music
' ' appreciation training' bchoola. : These
' were held for club music appreciation
leaders, with discussions on principles
?of siriglng, directingr and conducting.
. The first training school was on folk
' songs, the second ,was on religious

. citizenship'Wid clothing leader work.
',. Our count clothing leader, Mrs. Nor
man . Elliott, helped train -citizenship
- and clothing leaders in Chowan and
' Gates counties on the United Nations

county,, one to each of our three white
schools, and one to the Agricultural
Building; and some to churches.

more -and .more husbands to . attend

clubs had. dinners this year. At the

"Water Softening and "Home Gar
den." -I
We homemakera are selecting pro
grams that help to strengthen the
American .' home, which is the b'ack
i bone of our nation. Therefore, we
1 ' are placing - emphasis on food pro
duction and . conservation, in our
' yearly program. Our garden contest
will encourage more farm families to
have an adequate family garden. The
food conservation plans will heln us in
producing and conserving what our
, families will need. . In (May we plan
.to have a pressure cooker clinic to get
us ready for our canning season.; Also
in May we are having a program on
frozen toc'--;vf..: -V
We also want to' take-'WB "oppor-

elubi for attending the officers train-1
ing school, and for doing such a fine'
job in their clubs. W want to thank
the vice presidents fur their efforts in
increasing our membership, the crafts
leaders for their meeting last SNovem-
- ber, the family life and-recreational
leaden -for their very good Christmas
meetings. And we have to say this
to. the recreational leaders, we were
- bo proud of your interest and enthusi
asm and attendance at our three night
recreational schools held by Mr. Lon

' to the Red Cross end March of Dimes
drives. ' Educational leaden are
