This is decrease of over SO yet cent 3. Last' year the farmer received an average wage of only. 69 cents per hour in comparison to the industrial worker's wage scale of $1.60. ' No con sideration was given for the farmer's managerial ability, and a scant 6 per cent was allowed on his investment. " The North Carolina Farm Bureau maintains that the only possible solu tion to the inflation problem is to' in crease production; eliminate non-essential governmental expenditures; provide non-inflation handling of mon etary and fiscal poficies; strict ctedH controls; and a pay-as-we-go system of taxation.? 1 . PERQUIMANS H. 8. NEWS The Perquimans Chapter of F. H. A. won the annual field day meet in which competing teams were Perquim ans, Weeksville, Chowan, Moyock, Griggs. The local team had a total of 88 points while Griggswas runner-up with 21. Chowan placed third with 14 points. Perquimans boys participating were James Griffin. Kelly Miller, Clyde Lane, Marvin Hunter,. Clyde Stallings, Vance Bright, Welvin Lamb, Carol Baker, Billy Morris (Benton, Robert Winslow, Willi Proctor, Clin ton Winslow, and Durwood Lane.
