;i. a. t Officers Ir.ctr.II: J Per Local BPV7 Club The Perquimans Business and Pro - fession&l Women's Club held its regu lar dinner meeting at Hotel Hertford Tuesday night with Miss Hulda Wood presiding. .";:.. -.''i-vt; During the-business session, Mrs. Nina B. White gave a report on the Talent Show which was presented by the BPW Club and the Home Demon stration Clubs of the County. It was -voted to make this an annual affair with the two clubs sponsoring it Joint ly. , Mrs. Eoxanna iC. Jackson gave a re " port on the Loan Closet for the Sick. At the present time, she said most of the items are loaned out, but some of the linens have been returned and 'are ready to be, used whenever they are needed. Mrs. Alice M. Towe, who was a delegate to the State Convention held in Asheville, gave an interesting re port. She made special mention of Dr. Mary Martin Sloop of Crossmore, recently named American Mother of the Year; Miss Helen G. Irwin, Des Moines, Iowa, National First Vice President, and Mr. Wayne Freeman, a newspaper Editor from Greenville, South Carolina, who were among the special gues.s at the Convention. The meeting closed with ah im pressive candlelight installation ser vice when Mrs. Alice U. Towe, D js- trict Director, installed tl following officers: President,;, M.sa Hulda Wood; Vice-President, Mrs. Bexanna C. Jackson; Recording Secretary, Mrs. Pickett A. Sumner; Treasurer, Mrs. Essie JJurbage. M Mrs. Dora T. Riddick, Corresponding Secretary, was absent Claire Hunter, District Secretary Treasurer, was asked to Join the offi cers when the members repeated the Club Pledge. The . Emblem Bendic tion was sung, accompanied by Doro thy Maynard at the piano. ; SOCIETY MEETS (Left Over From Last Week) : The Bethany Woman's Society of Christian Service held its regular meeting with Mrs. Louis Stallings. The meeting was -called to order" by the president, Mrs. T. U. Perry. The roll was called by the secretary. Mrs. Tim Perry, Jr., with 15 presr ent and 5 absent. New and old business was discuss ed.' The devotional was given by Mrs. Wallace Baker with a reading from the -Bible. :- The program ; was then given by Mrs. Jim Carver, "All Children Are Considered. Several interesting ar ticles were read and songs were sung The meeting was adjourned and ai delightful course was served by the! hostess.
