day afternoon at "5 o'clock, after a
long illness.
Funeral services were held Wednes
day morning at 11 o'clock at the
family residence at Tyner, and burial
was made in the Byrum Cemetery.
Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs.
Mary Elizabeth Hollowell, of Norfolk,
Va.; Mrs. Ruth Smithwick, of Merry
Hill: three sons, Clarence S. Chap
pell, of Hertford; Louis E." Chappell
and Thomas A. Chappell, both of Nor
folk, Va.: three sisters, Mrs. Penny
