I'm grateful to the editor of this newspaper and : other newspapers across, the state for the opportunity to write to you in this fashion. "':- ? ' Congress 'Bnsy v'-;;';: The Congress resumed its early last month and almost Immedi ately plunged into a session which promises to be as hectic as the one last year. There are a great many wings 01 importance coming up iuiis year. .As yet, 'not too much has been accomplished because of the nature of legislative machinery. Plenty of bills have already been introducd bat they first must go to committees for study and approval. ' Then they come back to the House and Senate for action. . This, of course, is my first elec tion year as a member of 'the Senate. I hear a great deal of predictions, asi . .. i i 1 n 12 . rm. of my colleagues in the Senate have announced themselves as candidates . for President Senators vKefauver, Humphrey, and Tafty Two other Sen atorsLodge and Duff are actively supporting' General Eisenhower. Almost all members of Congress are hoping for adjournment of this ' session by the time the national 'party conventions meet in July. It may be possible for us to get away by then but it seems to me that we will have to do a great deal of work and do it faster than Congress has sometimes worked. .
