of J. P. Whedbee, deceased, the same
being of record in Will Book "J", page
241, in the office of the Clerk of Su
perior Court of Perquimans County,
N. C, the said undersigned will, on
Monday, July 7th, 1982, at 11:80
o'clock A. M., offer for sale at Public
Auction to the highest bidder for cash
at the courthouse door in Hertford,
N. C, in the manner and form as
hereinafter set out, certain tracts of
land belonging to the said J. P. Whed
bee estate, lying in Parkville Town
ship,, Perquimans County, N. C, bid
ding' to start on First Tract herein
after described at Twelve Thousand
One Hundred Twenty Five Dollars
($12,125.00) and bidding to start on
Second Tract hereinafter described at
One Thousand Six Hundred Twenty
Five Dollars ($1,625.00), said tracts
of land described as follows, viz.:
FIRST TRACT: Beginning at a
point on the southeastern side of U.
S. Highway No. 17, said point being
at the northeastern corner of the Nix
on estate, thence south 44 degrees
east 70 feet to the edge of the swamp;
thence continuing along the edge of
the swamp south 34 degrees west 28
feet, south 21 degrees 80 minutes east
22 feet, south 8 degrees 80 minutes
west 125 feet, south 12 degrees 30
minutes west 70 feet to a stake in
edge of swamp, and south 8 degrees
east 180 feet to the Persuimans River;
thence along the various runs of the
Perquimans River to the Hurdle Prop
erty, a cypress; thence north 10 de
grees 15 minutes west 780 feet to U,
S. Highway No. 17; thence along said
highway in a southwesterly direction
to the place of beginning. There is
excepted from above described tract,
all rights now existing to the use of
the lane known as ,1Bear Garden"
lane. " -
SECOND TRACT:, Beginning at an
iron pipe on the southern side of U,
IS. Highway No. 17, the same being
at the northeastern corner of the Tol
son property; thence south 12 degrees
15 minutes east 292 feet to a fence
and an iron pipe; thence south 10 de
grees 15 minutes east along a chopped
line, 730 feet to a cypress on Perquim
ans River at the mouth of Bright's
Mill Creek; thence the various runs
Of said creek to U. S. Highway No. 17;
thence' along said highway in a wester
ly direction approximately 950 feet to
the place of beginning, containing 18.2
acres by survey made by David Cox,
Jr., surveyor, on February 20, 1952.
While the description of the above
described property in all instances call
for U. S. Highway No. 17 as the
northerly," or northwesterly boundry,

ed by the J. P. Whedbee estate, will
be conveyed to the old Hertford
