MINUTES OF BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING , The Board of Education met in special session on. Monday, August Zb, jubi. All members were pres ent Chairman J.-E. Morris presid ed. The following principals were present Miss Thelma Elliott, Thomas Maston and E. C. Woodard. Two members of the Negro School Committee presented requests for cer. grounds. Haywood Martin was ap pointed by the Board of Education as a member of the Negro School Com mittee. -. -. . . -: J.. ' , A resolution was passed directing the principals to require birth certifi cates of all children entering school in the first grade. After much discussion with respect to the school lunchrooms a motion waB made, seconded and passed setting forth the following policy with respect to free lunches. In order to receive free lunches a written request must be presented to the principal by die parents of the one requesting the lunches and this request will be re viewed by a committee representing the school committee, teachers, and the Welfare Department Motion was - made, . seconded and passed directing that the Junior-Senior banquets be held at the school and that attendance be limited to Juniors and Seniors only. - After much time was spent discuss ing the safety of pupils while at school, the following resolution was passed. The Board of Education rec ommends that the High School Com mittee consider the question of re quiring all high school pupils to re main on the school grounds from the time they arrive at school to the close of school, .and the faculty members remains at school from 8:20 to 3:30, 'JOHN T.
