StteForiFiio SKI On e:cu3 : Mian Alice Carolyn Hawkins, Chapel Hill and Brevard, and James MdNkter Hollowell. of Chapel Hill and Hertford, were united in marriage in a ceremony Saturday' afternoon-, No vember 29, at 4 P. M., at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reagan Morris Hawkins, Brevard. Rev. W. B. Thomason, pastor of tne First Baptist Church, officiated at the ceremony. Vows were spoken before a backdrop of white pine with gar lands of gladioli draped across the top, seven-branched candelabra with cathedral tapers and floor baskets of white gladioli and fern on either side. Mrs. Karl Bossee, pianist, presented the wedding music. Prior to the cere mony she played "Intermezza" by Moscagni; "Trautnerei" by Schumann; and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach. The traditional wedding march from Lohengrin by Wagner was played. The briie was g;ven in marriage by her father and her only attendant was her sister, Miss Bonnie Fayc Hawkins. For her wo Ming the bride wre gown of white imported embroidered lace, made rIot nr'n'"' lin v'th a waltz length skirt. The bodice fea tured flowers embroidered in seed pearls. Her matching half crown hat held a shoulder-length veil of Enen'sh illusion. The bride carred a Bible topped with a corsage of white roses. The maid of honor wore a powder blue brocaded taffeta afternoon gown ' fashioned with push.up sleeves, a sweetheart neckline with jewelled sap phires and rhinestones and a full waltz length sk'rt. Her'small matching hat was jewelled with the same trim and she carried a nosegay of pink car nations. The groom's best man was Archie T. Lane, Jr., cousin of the groom; and ushers were Charles M. Osborne and Spalding Mcintosh, Jr.' The mother of the bride wore a gown of ashes of roses lace embroid ered on navy net over ashes of roses satin. Her corsage was of rose car nations. The groom's Mother wore an aqua crepe dress trimmed in gold and a cor sage of rose carnations. A reception followed the ceremony at the home. The bridal table was covered with a lace cloth and a center arrangement of white tapers and white gladioli was used. A three tiered wedding cake completed the table decorations. Mrs. Fred C. Ward-, aunt of the bride, poured punch, -and Mrs. Otis Belk servei the cake. Mrs. Spalding Mcintosh, Jr., presided at the guest book. For traveling the bride changed into a black suit with eggshell acces sories and the white rose corsage from her Bible. The couple will resMe at 205 Carr Street in Chapel HHI. The bride graduated from Brevard College and received her B. S. and RN in nursing from Emory Univer sity. She was employed by the Ashe ville city health department until re cently when she accepted a pos:tion with the district health department in Pittsboro as a public health nurse. The groom is also a graduate of Brevard College and is now a senior in the law school at the University of North Carolina. He is a member of Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Hawkins, of Hendersonville, grandparents of the bride; Mrs. Fred C. Ward, of Ohio, aunt of the bride; Mrs. Harry T. Hollowell of Hertford mother of the groom; Mrs. Archie T. Lane, Sr., aunt of the groom, and Mrs. Archie T. Lane, Jr., both of Hertford; Miss Sally Hollowell, of Hertford, sister of the groom; Mrs. Otis Belk, of Wil mington, Del.; Thomas M. Caldwell, Jr., Charlotte; and Margaret Ann De Bord, Emory University, Georgia. Seedlings Orders Now Being Taken - Perquimans County Ranger J. W.l jxovrni stated today that all persons interested in ordering tree seedlings from the N. C. Division of Forestry should contact him, or some repre sentative of the Forestry Division, or County Agent, and place their order for these seedlings immediately. The supply of seedlings is running out rapidly this year and orders should be placed now in order to insure re ceiving the trees. County Ranger Nowdl reminds ev eryone who has abandoned farm land that is unproductive ait present that . the easiest way to put this land into production i to plant it with the ap propriate species of tree seedlings." A greater number of seedlings were pro duced at the Nurseries this year than ever before but the indications are that h-supply will be exhausted before the planting season is over. Type 11 and Type 31 tobacco were among the few items that sold higher than the . previous month and also higher than in December of 1951. These commodities averaged 8 points above the November 15 figure and 4 points above the December, 1951 fig ure. Dairy products, miscellaneous commodities and grains showed an increase, while meat animals and cotton were down. - Poultry was 2 points above the previous month but 13 points below the same month in 1951.
