PERRY Stop your car, Charles, right her in Whiteston. Good morning, Mr. Winslow, you are the very man I want to see. Come, and have a seat for a few minutes. I want to ask you a few questions about this fine community. In the first place, do you remember why it was named WhJbeBton; It seems to me that there are more Winslows than Whites in this section. Do you remember when the Friend Meeting House was built? Something more than '50 years ago, I believe. And how about the school building 1 You had such a good school here til the schools were consolidated and yours was discontinued iWhen you have a good church and a good school in any community, you are quite sure of having a prosperous, progressive neighborhood and you have one of the very best in the county Where does Whiteston end and where does' Ni canor begin? And which community is older? When was Perry's Bridge built, and for what family of Perrys was it named? Do you remember? Do you remember when the road was built across the Dismal Swamp con necting this county with Pasquotank? And when there was a Post Office at Nicanor? Do you remember the Rid dicks, the Lanes, the large family of Whites, Williams, Bakers, Copelands, Jolliffs. Good friends in the full sense of the word. When yon , feel dis couraged remember Jonah, he came out all right. Thanks for thisnice talk. CLASS MEETS The Willing Workers Class of the New Hope Methodist Church held ijs I W.
