The mother of the bride wore a beige brocaded faille shief dress with V neckline with brown accessories. - Her flowers, were red carnations. The moth er of the bridegroom wore a black jersey dress with black accessories. Her flowers- were white carnations. ' For. their southern wedding trip the bride wore a light blue 'jersey dress with hat to match, a brown fur cap and brown-accessories, and the orchid lifted from her prayer book. . After rehearsal Saturday night the bridal party and friends were entertained at- a cake cutting at the home -pf Mr. and Mrs. Phillip . Thach. The dining table was beautifully dec orated with a lace table cloth, candles and magnolia leaves. The guests were greeted by Mrs. Thach. Mrs. Hazel Mathews served the cake, with Mrs. Bill Cox presiding at the punch bowl. INDIANS-SQUAWS PLAY AHOSKIE HERE FRIDAY Continued from Pag I Section li out the game. In the boys' game Williams ton trailed by two points at the close of the first quarter but ripped the nets for 21 points in the second period while holding Perquimans to nine tallies. Wil liamston" added eight points to its lead in the third period while the play was even during the final quarter. , Gaylord Perry was leading scorer with 23 points for Wil liamston. Tommy Matthews led the Indian attack with 15 points. Miller collected 7, Chesson 5, Burton 8 and Tucker hit for two. MONDAY DEADLINE FOR PTA PROJECT Monday will be the last day : pupils and parents may order jackets and sweat shirts being sold by the PTA at Hertford Grammar School, it was report ed today. Griffin, Jr., of Elizabeth City, Dr. Grif fin is a member of the State Dental Society's Rural Health Committee and is interested in over-all health improvement projects and practices through out the state and especially in this area. . Glenn Brosier, field represen tative for the American Red Cross, stationed at Elizabeth City, wiil lead the discussion of "Community Health Services" by explaining the various ser vices available through the local Red Cross Chapters, especially the Blood Bank program. S. L. Lowery, farm agent in Pasquo tank County, will moderate a panel of resource persons who will interpret other available community health services. The home demonstration leaders have been most helpful in getting health information to lay lead ers in rural North Carolina, and Miss Edna Bishop, home agent in Elizabeth City, will review some of the health programs and activities of the club women in Pasquotank County on this panel. Max Sheeley, Hospital Adminis trator, Elizabeth City, will be another panel member. The Perm Bureau and R'uritan Clubs in this area have been active in community health programs and these organizations will also be represented on the afternoon program. The physicians have always taken the lead in promoting better ' health and medical care for the people in North Caro lina. In summarizing the con ference program, Dr. Zack D. Community Health Protec- president of the State Medical Society, Dr. Ow ens gave his full support and cooperation to the expansion of the rural health education pro gram of the state society. MRS. ED LANE Mrs.. Ed Lane, 81, lifelong-resident of Perquimans County, pass ed away Tuesday night, January 7, at the home of her daughter in Manteo. She is the daughter of the late George and Frances Win gate, and is survived by one bro-i ther, Roscoe Wingate of Raleigh; three sons, Clyde Lane of Eliza beth City, W. P. Lane of Hert ford, Roscoe Lane of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Grace White of Manteo, Mrs. Frances Bassinger of Portsmouth, Va.; eleven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Church School Is -Scheduled Friday A Training School for Certified Lay Speakers in t Methodist Churches in this area will be conducted Friday night, January 10, in the First Methodist Church, Hertford, v Sponsored n by the Board of Lay ; Activities, the school will begin with, supper at five-thirty, to be followed by dis cussion groups on ways and means of improving the prograrri of "No Silent Pulpits", and help ful suggestions to lay speakers participating in this year's Lenten program. .. v,:, ;, , . ;.
