Lesson Text: Genesis 3 thru il The purpose of our study to day is ta lead, 'persons to. dis cover the implications in the story Qf Cain and, Abel concern-. ing our relationships with our fellowmeo. . The story" recorded in Genesis 4 is set in the years immediate following the expulsion from the garden. It describes the origm of the first - chikm on earth and their subsequent vocational development It also records the anger of the one brother toward 5 the other and its manifestation Sin the act of .murder. ; And whe questioned auout ws jhujviciui! act, Cain responds somewhat as his .father naam tne garaeg. ?He is evasive: he denies person al ; ressaonsibility, .insisting that he is not his "brother's keeper.'1 jj Th reoaainder at thchapier is concerned wwi eveni wuw ing the moral judgment invoked against this act. A legendary descendant,' ' Lamech, also-' be-. comes involved in bloodshed (verses 23-24). : Thus. is. the con tinuity of evil portrayed. L Taking place after the forced exit 'from Eden, . the - story apr pears to shew that the writer was certain the whole 'course of history would be shadowed; by the tragedy ill the garden. He depicts tne first outcropping; of this evil infection as. occur ring in the family of the first pair soon, after th garde ex perience. After the original in nocence of creation a. moral de cline had begun. 1 Generated, by the ' rebellion in ' Eden, it now appeared via the first' sons ne the victim of the, other's Jealousy and passion. Thus had:- begun a change in the very structure, of society. i,N, more vyere, men. liv ing .at peace ..with, one another.
