The Hertford Town Board,
meeting here last Thursday '
right, reviewed the audit for
the town for the year ended :
June 30, 1963. In reviewing the
audit, all funds were properly
accounted for. However, the
Board found that the. clerk had
allowed an unusually large '
number of accounts receivable
to accumulate without the con
sent or knowledge of the Mayor
and Commissioners. - This in
cluded light and water bills for
a number of residents of the
town. Many have been collected
since the meeting and arrange
ments are being made for the
collection of these delinquent ':
accounts. Efforts are also being
made to collect the delinquent -taxes.
All persons already owing .
light and water bills, who do not
make satisfactory payments on
their accounts will have their
service discontinued. ;
A complete audit as presented
to the Board is printed in this '
issue of The Perquimans Week
ly. -
R. C. Elliott, Town Clerk, was
instructed by the Board to dis
continue all electric and water
service of all consumers not
complying with the regulations.
The regulations state that all.
light and water consumer bills
are due on or before the 16 th
day of each month. After the :'
16th a penaty of $1.00 will be
added, and on the 26th day of
the month the consumers' ser -
vice will be discontinued and
a fee of $2.00 will be charged for
restoring the service.
' The Town of Hertford requests -'
all consumers to comply with
the regulations. The Town Clerk 4.
has no authority to give -en ex
tension to anyone, If bills, fa
over and service - Was not Ipm "
paid for by the 26th cf each,
month, consumers are advised to
check their refrigerators ,for
food that might spoil, and make
arrangements because the regu
lations will be strictly enforced.
Service will be discontinued
until the bills are paid.
Football Films
To Be Shown
The working committees of the
"Woodard Memorial Scoreboard
Fund" have made arrangements
with Coaches Ike Perry and
Bobbie ' Carter to present cur
rent films of the Perquimans
High School football games in
the PCHS auditorium at 7:30
P. M., Wednesday, October 30.
Admission will be $1.00 with all
proceeds to be contributed to the
Memorial Fund.
Films of three games will be
shown with the program lasting
approximately one hour.
Coach Perry will narrate the
films, explaining the plays and
pointing out those that clicked to
perfection and at points will stop
a film to show where a key
block would have cut runners
loose. Coach Perry stated: "The
public will surely enjoy these
films. You, will see in detail and
at timeS stopped action, plays
geared for the Dig play. You
will also see the questionable
plays, whether a player stepped
out of bounds or a pass caught
in or out of bounds. It is my
pleasure ..to present . these films
for a worthy cause." : -
