C- Dis trict Goyernor of 31-J, present as guest .and speaker. After the blessing 'by Lion O. C. "Buck, - a delicious dinner ' of barbecue chicken 'and the accompanying accessories was served by Chub Goodman and his assistant. Present Ralph White called the meeting io orcer and wel comed the . members and the District 'Governor, Roy Wood cock. Zone Chairman 1 Claude Brinn brought up some 'matters for the: club, to consider, t Secre tary J. T. Biggers read the min utes of the last meeting and the items of business were consider ed. Then the District Governor, Roy Woodcock, was -' presented, and he spoke very encouraging words to members of the Hert ford Lions Club on their activi ties and accomplishments. He tivities and urged ,aU members- to 'visit other clubs more and learn of their activities. He stat ed that the Lions Club is the largest Service Club in the world: in North Carolina, there are over 300 Lions Clubs with more than 15,000 members; that Lions ' International is now op crating in 122 countries through out the world, and has' a total of 17,507 clubs and a combined membership, of 677,871. , How-, ever, these figures are steadily enlarging.' At this meeting three new members joined the club, including 'Jake Chesson, Red El liott and Joe Perry, Jr., and oth ers : are being considered. . " Jim Bass, Chairman of the White Cane Drive, is urging all mem bers .to make a final report at the next meeting on 1 November 7th of their White Cane sales. ON N.C.
