weapons and military teaching
methods. .
Smith is a rifle team leader
in Company B, 3d Battalion of
he division's 51st Infantry near
' trlangen, Germany. He enter
ed the Army in August, 1959,
and arrived overseas on this tour
& duty in October, 1962.
The 22-year-old soldier is a
1959 .graduate of Perquimans

Dies At Edenton
William A, White, 66, died
suddenly at his homo in Eden
ton at 12:30 P. M, Friday. A
retired naval base employee, he
was a lifelong resident, of Cho
wan County. ' - ' 'W.V,
Surviving are his wife, Mrs,
Mary S. White; a daughter, Mrs.
Lloyd Christianson , of Norfolk;

Mrs. Lorch Stallings of Edenton

ed Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock
at Williford Funeral Home by
the Rev) R. N. Carroll., Burial
was in Beaver Hill Cemetery.

About $1800 Saved: Fifteen
thousand dollars worth of street
improvement refunding bonds of
the Town of Hertford were sold
by the Local Government Cpm
missioh which met in' Raleigh
oh .Tuesday. The bonds, which
were purchased by a Raleigh
Company, carry a rate of 4
percent interest and the money
received for them will be used
to take up bonds which are past
due and which bear interest at
the rate of 6 percent. The
transaction represents a saving
to the town of approximately
$1800. v . ;
