It was impossible last week to
get the report of ribbons, award
ed in the. Flower Show given by
the home demonstration clubs of
the countyj at the Courthouse,
which -proved . to be . one .of the
most successful affairs of -the
kind ever held in the county.
Very lovely were the flowers, ex
quisitefy "arranged, There were
many choice specimens ,-and vaii- j
ous beautiful collections. , ; One
particular, .display, made by Mrs.
William T. Elliott, was outstand
ing. "A- miniature house set in
a charming garden, with grass,
flowers and trees, with no detail
forgotten which would add to its
attractiveness called forth many
exclamations of delight.

able to hire full-time, industrial
help, finance industries, use ad

A 1 three-car accident which
occurred at 9:30 Sunday night
at Light Nixon Fork about four
miles -south, of town at the in
tersection of U. S. 17 and the
Bethel road, resulted in minor
injuries and an estimate of
$1,300 damages to the vehicles
involved, according to D. R.
Cumbo, state trooper, who in
vestigated the accidents.
According to the offjeer, Ruby,
W. Jones- of Route .2; Hertford,
Negro driving a pickup truck,
had stopped and was' waiting to
make a left turn into the Bethel
road. L. B. Holt, of Raleigh,
traveling, south, pulled up be
hind the stopped truck aind was
struck by a car driven by '
Booker T. ' McCullen, Jr., ; of,
Newport News, Va., who failed ' '
to, stop behind-the two parked
vehicles. The .impact pushed the 1
Holt car into the rear of the
pickup truck. McCullen and a '
passenger in his car were hos- .
pitalized at Chowan Hospital. A
road block' resulted and finally
the clearing of this a tow truck
had picked up the McCullen car
and was heading away from the
scene ' when a car driven by
Wagner Eason of Elizabeth City
plowed into the rear of the car
being towed by the wrecker.
Following Eason was Robert
Orr, his wife and small child.
They ran into the Eason car,
skidded around in the road and
Mrs. Orr Vf as thrown from the
car. Luckily, Mrs. Orr receiv- '
ed only cuts and bruises, as did
her husband. ..
