Have Busy Month
Hertford's Police Department
had a busy month during Sep
tember, according . to a report
made to the Town Board by Po
lice Captain B. L. Gibbs.
A total of 20 arrests were
made, eight of which were for
being drunk, three miscellaneous
traffic .arrests, two larceny, twe
careless and reckless driving, two
miscellaneous arrests and one
each for speeding, assault, and
operating intoxicated.
. Of the twenty arrests, all were
found guilty as charged. Fines
amounted to - $401.25 and costs
$254.75, totaling $656.00. ;
The department answered and
investigated 97 calls, extended
101 courtesies, answered 212 ra
dio calls,, investigated one acci
dent,' worked two funerals, an
swered one fire call, issued one
citation, reported four lights out
and recovered one bicycle.
The police cars traveled 4,153

that Christmas mailing for arm
ed forces overseas has' been des
ignated for the period of October
21 to November 10. For airmail
parcels the period , is December
1 to December 10. . Greeting
cards for the armed forces over
seas should be mailed within the
periods designated for parcels if
they are to have a reasonable ex
pectation of delivery prior to
Christmas. - ,
The board also appointed a
committee to work out plans by
which crafts within the 4-H
clubs can 'be encouraged and
promoted, as wen as invuauon
extended to them to participate
in the 1964 Albemarle Crafts
