The local-, chapter .also placed" second in , beef cattle and swine judging. ' The Camden FFA Chap ter 'came in flit . placfti ifl the beef cattle and swine judging, while the Chowan FFA Chapter was given second place honors in the dairy judging. Mr. Maston asked everyone who wish ed to go by thoi library and see the new memorial books. These books were given in memory of Shel ton Long," George Caddy, Edgar Morris, Mrs. Uric (P. J.) Caddy Marvin White , and Vernon Lee Perry. ', These are' very nice books and the school is very glad to have them. Mr. Winslow called on 1he' historian, Mrs. , Ray If arris, foe a history, of. the year's work. y Mr.' and Mrs. Clifford Winslow expressed '. their appreciation for the fine cooperation given them during their term of of fice. . Mrs. Maston then pre sented the past president's pins to Mr. and Mrs. Clif ford Winslow. Mrs. Gregory invited the parents to visit their child's room and to visit the lunch room for refresh ments. Club's Show Is SupcossfuJ The Perquimans County Horse and Pony Club had a very successful day April 15, starting with a parade through Hertford a! the horses and riders to be in , the show that afternoon. The' Perquimans County Marching Unit added to the western flavor of the event as they led the pa rade in their colorful In dian outfits. The : horse and pony show began at 1 P. M. Saturday afternoon with horses and : ponies from Perquimans County and surrounding areas in competition for the tro phies and ribbons award ed in the different classes. Winners in these classes were as follows: Western Pleasure, 12 and under, first, Russ Chappell; sec ond, Rodney Knight; third, Alvin Winslow and fourth, Lisa DeRock. ATTUND MEETING Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Big gers attended the Mid-At-lantic Regional Meeting of the Neighborhood Youth Corps, which was held at the Chambeilin Hotel at Ft. The Student Council is planning a chicken salad, supper for May 13 and tickets are being sold, here and there, and every where. The FFA judging where. The FFA judging team carried home the honors in their land judging con test last week by winning the overall award for beef cattle, dairy cattle and swine judging. On April 15 and 16 the State Beta Club Conven tion was held in Ashe ville, N. C.
