' Men Do Nothing' . . .
Thle la the tragic and atern
lesson of history, Every clviu

fallen, and one of the primary
reason wu the complacency of
the cltlsens.
TO million Germane were
mute, paid little attention to
Hitler and his 30 perverted com
patriots, and within throe years
he waa Chancellor and enslaved
all Germans. Stalin with 17 Rus
sians did the same.
"IT CANT HAPPEN HERE,"
la a most tragic mistake!
The voice of America has been
comparatively mute to the
fanatic Car-michaels, Browns,
to the eoerclve rlot-promotlon
marches, demonstrations, loot
ings, etc. Young Americans last
Saturday, draft-dodgers, card
and flag burners, mis-directed
parasites, demonstrated under
so-called anti-Vietnam Party
for Peace. v
We must devastate the effects
of thesepsychologlcal and brain
washing disturbances, even
though coming from a minute
percentage of our youth, by a
clear and loud voice of our
allegiance and support of our
boys dying and fighting in
Vietnam.
. . November 11 is one of our
sycred national holidays for the
millions who have died for us. I
urge you to supplement your
patriotic programs by urging
your listeners to display the flag,
Let's have at least 100 million
flags displayed on November 11
throughout America.

Every fall when the leaves turn red, I pay a visit
to New York City. There's magic there for me. A pulse
of excitement rides the autumn air and no matter what
I'm doing, riding the bus on the avenue or browsing
in a bookstore, I'm invigorated.
I see exciting plays, Visit art galleries and indulge
in my love for museums. Shopping in large department
stores intrigues my woman's heart. Each year I save
some time to sit on a bench and watch the people go by,
I return home refreshed for another year deter
mined to work harder at my typewriter and improve
my work. I am inspired to perfect my craft
Church-going does the same thing for my inner life.
An hour of meditation and worship sends me home with
a fresh outlook and a firm resolve to reflect God's love
more clearly in the coming week. I am inspired to per
fect my life.
Your church is the key to a full life.

THE LURE OF OTHER GODS
International Sunday School Lesson for November 12, 1967
MEMORY SELECTION: "Thou shalt have no other gods be
fore me." (Exodus 20:3) -
LESSON TEXT: Hosea 4; 8-10.
Hosea Is generally known as the prophet of God's love for
mankind; nevertheless, he never drew back from uttering
warnings of God's Judgment
Today's lesson embraces many of the attitudes and
practices of that day and time which came between God and
Israel and Judah. . .practices and outlooks which destroyed
the spiritual foundations of those nations, bringing death
where there should have been Ufe, grief where there should
have been Joy.
Tfvfav wa wfll fttiiriv tha latent, rwttaifieH In this Rnnlr
and apply It to ourselves, in our own time, in our owlr T
generation.
Do we not tend to put our faith in the achievements of
mankind. . .the atom bomb, the conquering of space; our
scientific advances, our material resources? Do we not
tend to pay homage to the almighty dollar, per se, Instead
of using It sensibly, for the betterment of mankind and the
furtherance of God's cause?
Do we not worship the god of entertainment, the god of
' personal ambition, the god of self? All of them false gods,
all of them giving a false sense of security!
Just how dlffe lent are we. today, from the Israelites,
the Judeans, of biblical times? Ij
And do we not, daily, break the Commandments, Just as
they did? Do we not lie, cheat, steal, covet. ..?... com
pletely ignoring (as they did) the Ten Commandments, which
God gave to His people as foundation stones upon which to
build a Godly life? .
How long before we head the warning voices of God's .
chosen orators? How long before, ignoring those voices, ,
we go down to defeat, both spiritually and physically, both
as lndivldutls and as a nation?
God expected Israel's worship of him to be pure, and
free of heathen practices. Only by being Godlike in her
: national and spiritual life, could Israel assure herself of
lasting security as a nation, But while giving lip service
to God Israel flung herself headlong Into superstition and
: revelry; Into worshipping false idols, and thus was her
security lost. 4 '
Today, do we not tend to put our trust in the wrong
' things? in ourselves, and what we accomplish? We lose
sight of the fact that trust In God must be complete In
order to be meaningful In our lives, and in the eyes of
God.
' Hosea carried a warning to his people; If they did not
' mend their ways, and turn back to the path of righteousness,
. retribution would be swift and sure. . .andterrlble But. , .
he also carried a message of bopel For If Israel turned
back to God as a nation, and forsook her false Idols, God's
" love would be hers, and she would prosper. That Israel
, chose to Ignore Hosea's warning voice, proved to be her .
undoing. -.-...
v , '''..t ? v.; .... '.y i :
. Yes, there Is a valuable lesson for us in today's study.
4 Will we listen with our minds and our hearts, and not Just
" with our ears? We must never forget that we make our own
choices, thereby shaping our own destinies!
