Here is an easily prepared
keclpe for that universally ap
pealing meat-chicken.
CHICKEN WITH DUMPLINGS
5 pound chicken
18 t pepper
2 t salt
Few stalks ot celery . -
Cut chicken in pieces and
cover with boiling water. Add
celery. Reduce 'heat and cook
slowly until tender, about 2 to
2V4 hours. Add salt after 45 min
utes of cooking. Let stand un
til fat collects on top. Remove
most of fat with a spoon. Take
out chicken and remove skin and
bones. Heat stock to boiling
point. . Add dumplings. t

1 c flour
1 tsalt
2 t baking powder
c milk
Sift flour, salt and baking
powder together. Add milk grad
ually. Beat until smooth. Drop
into hot stock by tablespoons.
Cover closely. Cook for IS
minutes.
