Major John N. Elliott, son of Mrs. William H. Elliott, Rt. 2, Hertford, N.C., and the late Mr. Elliott, has been selected for promotion to lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. . Major Elliott is a com muni cation-electronics staff officer at Andersen AFB, Guam, with the 27th Communications Squad ron, a unit of the Strategic Air Command, America's long-range nuclear bomber and missile force. A 1950 graduate of Perquimans County High School, the major earned his B. S. degree in 1954 from East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., where he was commissioned through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Healso received a B. Meeting Held - The Parents Club of the Per quimans County Marching Unit met Monday night, November 10, 1969 at So'clock In the high school lunch room. t The meeting was called to or der by the president, Mrs. Joe Towe White. The secretary,Mrs. Marlon Swindell, gave the roll call and read the minutes of the October meeting. They stood ap proved as read. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Becky White. - Mrs. Swindell reported the fried chicken supper the Parents Club sponsored Friday night, No vember 7 was a hugh success.On behalf of the planning committee she thanked each and everyone who so willingly helped to make the supper such a success. She presented Freda Godwin, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl God win, the five dollar award for selling the most tickets. Mrs, White ' announced the marching unit has been Invited to participate in the parade at the Lions Club International conven tion at Atlantic City, New Jersey July 1-4. Anzle Layton, a member of the marching unit, gave a brief report on the Christmas bazaar the unit will hold on December 6.
