Wedding The marriage of Miss Patricia Ann Corprew and Everett LeRoy ""Markham Jr. ' was solemnized June 14 at Bethel Baptist Church. The Reverend Gordon B. Shaw, pastor of (he bride, performed tbe double ring ceremony in a candlelight setting of mums, palms, and gladioli. Miss Caroline Wright, organist, presented a program of nuptial music. Miss Jane Evans, soloist, sang "Lord Let Me Live Today" and "The Wedding Prayer". Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of peau de sole, with a bodice and bell type sleeves of Chantilly lace. The detachable train was bordered in lace ap pliques. Her veil of tulle was attached to a satin bow. She carried a lace covered Bible tanned with a cascade of white h carnations centered with an orchid. The bride's only or nament was a string of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Mrs. Larry Corprew, sister-in -law of the bride, was Matron of Honor. She enose a full length aqua gown, featuring a back t panel with a chiffon bow. Her neaaplece was made of chiffon petals and matching veil. She carried a nosegay of mixed carnations, and daisies, with pink streamers. Alton Barclift acted as best man. Ushers were Larry Cor prew, brother of the bride, and James R. Pierce. Mrs. Lester Simpson, aunt of the bride, directed the ceremony. Mrs, Corprew wore a pink dress with matching accessories and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Markham chose a light blue dress with harmonizing accessories and an orchid cor- J if '"-"- 1 Receive Awards Four of Perquimans County 4 H Campers won the Superior Camper Certificates, at Mitchell 4-H Camp, Swansboro, North i' n ii m ....... varum ia. mc cvnuicaies were awarded during the Annual Banquet. The winners were as follows: Gloria Banks, daughter of Mrs. Theliria Banks, New Hope; Zelene Bunch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Bunch, the second, Bethel; Velma Winslow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jones, WinfaJl; and RiU Tolson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Ray Tolson, Woodville. ' Gloria, Zelene, and Velma were outstanding in per formance and -leadership. Rita was outstanding in handicraft. All of the 30 4-H delegates per formed nicely while at camp. They were active in the daily activities, Vesper services, fun time, talent program, and class participation. Willie Felton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie M. Felton, Route 1, Belvidere, N. C. rocked the recreation hall with his vocal selection Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head. The camp -staff, agents, and leaders commented on the fine cooperative spirit shared by the Perquimans County 4-H mem bers everyone enjoyed... Vows Exchanged sage. For traveling, the bride changed to a lilac linen dress, with accessories to match. She lifted the orchid from her bouquet. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cor prew, and a graduate of Perquimans County High School. She is planning to enter COA in September. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. LeRoy Markham and the late Mr. Markham, and graduated from Elizabeth City schools. Since graduating from studies in mechanics at COA he has, been employed by James Bros.' . The couple will make their home in Weeksville. A shower was given by friends at Bethel Community Building. Wedding cake, punch, nuts, and mints were served to ap proximately SO guests. Following the rehearsal on Saturday night, a cake cutting was held for the wedding party. Mrs. Eure gave the devotional. 4-H members were guests of the club and took part in the program. Barry Lane spoke on 4-H Club work. Miss Rhonda Lane gave an interesting talk on the origin of the peanut and its nutritional value as food. She made a Waldorf salad using peanuts. She had made candy and other dishes also using peanuts. Mrs. Ralph Harrell talked about furniture styles, stating that furniture oi different periods could be used effectively in a room. The nominating committee submitted the following slate of officers for next year: Mrs. J. D. Yeates, presient; Mrs . Ralph Harrell , vice president; Mrs. Delvin Eure, secretary and Mrs. Albert Eure, treasurer. WHITESTON NEWS Mrs Sylvia Winslow and granddaughter, Beth Winslow, left Sunday for Quaker Lake Camp. Beth and Claudia will be campers for this week and Sylvia is to be a Counselor. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Winslow and children spent Saturday night at Quaker Lake and returned home on Sunday. Mrs. William Winslow, Pam, Arba and Eunice Winslow and Mrs. Joseph Winslow of Bagley Swamp spent last Thursday with Mrs. Worth Winslow at Norfolk, Va. Arba visited his doctor at the Medical Center for a check-up. Williard Baker is at home from Albemarle Hospital and doing fine. Mrs. Mafra Saunders is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Winslow for a while after an operation at Albemarle Hospital. Miss Sybil Winslow is suffering from a back injury at her home but is improving slowly. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren G. Atnes of Hamden, Conn. The groom is the son of Mrs. E.W. Dunsmoor and the lateMajor Dunsmoor, USMC (Ret.) of Hertford, N.C. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a faille satin gown embroidered with Chantilly lace and seed pearls. Her fingertip veil was capped with a bow of seed pearls and she carried a cascade of pink and white roses. Miss Mary Linda Anderson of East Haven, Conn., cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of Chicory blue line with white lace bodice and carried a pompom of blue daisies. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Mary Mallinson of New Haven, Conn, and Miss Jean Mitchell of East Haven, Conn., cousin of the bride. Their gowns were iden tical to that of the honor at tendant. ! J. Proctor Jr., opened the meeting of the Bethel Firemans Auxiliary in the homel of Mrs. B. A. Tally with twelve! members present. A very inspiring devotional! was given by Mrs. Kramer! Williams followed by prayer During the business session plans were made for the bake sale to be held during the Fish Fry June 20 and members were also assigned to their duties for the fish fy. Returns were made from the sales of the cook books and napkins. New officers were elected for the coming year continuing with Mrs. Cj. j. mctor Jr. as president; vice president, Mrs. Ruby Davis; secretary, Mrs Kathryn Brennaman; treasurer, Mrs. Madge Fleetwood; sun shine, Mrs. Kramer Williams; social, Mrs. Pat Eleetwood, Mrs. Enie Curtis, Mrs. Bessie HarreU; and Mrs. T. T. Harrell as publicity chairman. A contest was held with Mrs William Corprew as winner. Mrs. Tally, assisted by her daughter, served delicious refreshments. Skirts will be longer but jackets will be shorter. Some of the jackets will come to the waistline. Slits up the sides of the longer skirts will make for easier walking and for a view of the legs.
