(AP) When Frank Ward and his bride Andd stopped off here at the end of their honeymoon one of the first to greet them was Ted Williams, manager of the Wash ington Senators. Ward, a former Brown University pitcher, had spent some time years ago at Williams summer camp. Ward, a former Boston Park League pitcher, is now the proper ty of the Kansas City Royals and was on his way to Daytona Beach for spring training. Williams saw the 6-foot-2 right handed hurler in the stands here and recognized him immediately. Ward, who is from Rehoboth, Mass., set a New York-Penn League strikeout record when he pitched for the Corning Royals in 1968. He fanned 16 Oneonta bat ters in a 2-1 victory. Ward, 23 and 210 pounds, was signed by Bob Murray of Nashua, N.H., for a progressive bonus. He was gradu ated from Brown last June with an electrical engineering degree. Aft er school he pitched for Waterloo, Iowa, in the Midwest League in 1969.
