Wedding music was presented by Mrs. Chester Winslow, organist and Miss Becky Eure, soloist. The bride is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. John E. Simpson of Hertford. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Joyce Sykes of Burlington and Tom Sykes of Jacksonville. Fla. Soft pink ribbon was laced through the rich Venise lace trim and accented the illusion neckline, modified Juliet sleeves and bordered the hem of the skirt. The same ribbon encircled the empire '. waist ending in a demure bow at the front. The detachable mantle train which fell from the shoulders, was edged in matching ribbon lace. Pink bows highlighted the matching bonnet of Venise lace from which cascaded an elbow length veil of imported silk illusion; She carried a cascade bouquet of pink and white roses. Miss Bea Skipsey of Hertford was maid of honor, Bridesmaids were Miss Joyce Gibbs of Engelhard. Miss Lynne Bowen of Chester, Va. and Miss Brenda Davis of Elizabeth City.: They wore floor length gowns in cranberry velvet with scooped neckline and Juliet sleeves. Candlelight double-edged lace accented the front of the gown, sleeves and hems. They wore matching headpieces. The maid of honor carried three lone stemmed pink roses and the bridesmaids, one long stemmed pink rose. Tom Sykes of Jacksonville, Fla. was best man. Ushers were Tommy Sykes of Warrenton. Greg Sykes of Burlington and Kay Ridenhour also of Burlington Mrs. Katherine Ward was mistress of ceremony. For her daughter's Wedding, Mrs. Simpson chose a beige knit dress trimmed with tan covered buttons and smocking. She wore tan accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Sykes selected a light blue crepe dress with matching lace coat, matching accessories and corsage of pink roses. A reception was held in the CHURCH OF CHRIST . Sykes is a graduate of the University at Wilmington and is currently serving with the United States Air Force. A bridal luncheon was given by Mrs. Fenton Britt, Miss Bea Skipsey and Miss Joyce Gibbs at the home of Mrs, Britt. The honoree was presented a white carnation corsage and gift of china. A miscellaneous shower was held at the Fellowship Hall of Hertford Baptist Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Sheldon Bateman. Mrs. Merle Layton. Mrs. John McDonald. Mrs. G.T. Featherstone. Mrs. Wayne Dunbar and Mrs. Ralph Jordan. The honoree received a corning ware baking dish. Miss Lynne Bowen and Miss Brenda Davis entertained at a dinner party at the Lob-Steer Inn at Wilmington. The rehearsal party was given by Mrs. Katherine Ward at her home in Hertford for the wed ding party. 0 MEMBER F.D.I.C JOHN Miss Elliott Entertains Bridge Club Miss Thelma Elliott en tertained her bridge club Tuesday night at her home on Riverside Avenue. Those playing included Mrs. C.E. Johnson. Mrs. T.P. Brinn, Mrs. Charles Whedbee. Mrs. W.G. Wright. Mrs. S.M, Whedbee. Mrs. Montfort Haslam. Mrs. Eldon Winslow. and the hostess.
