BELVIDERE Miss Wanda ' .Judy Winslow became the bride of Stephen Hillary Powers Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Hobbsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Thomas A." Clarke Jr. heard; the wedding voews in a Jcandlelight setting of palms and , whiteflowers including gladioli, chrysanthemums and orchids. Mrs. Thomas Chappell and Miss Elaine Mathias presented the wedding music. , : The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jarvis D. . Winslow of Belvidere and the late Mr. Winslow. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy W. Powers of Moyock. The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Dickie Winslow, wore a traditional gown of white chanitlly lace with scalloped neckline sparked with brilliants ; and "seed pearls. ' The- gown featured long sleeves ending in wedding points over the hands. Tiers of lace formed the cathedral length train. She wore . a diamond centered cross given to her by her father. Her flowers were white sweetheart roses Centered with an orchid on a prayer book. Miss Mathias of Gates was maid of honor. She wore a gold ' M i saun gown wim mines ai me neck, at the wrists and skirt hem. and a full length sash of Jolivtgreeii Yjlvetibbon. Her headpiece was of autumn flowers and ribbon: . Bridesmaids were Sheila Tuazon of Suffolk, Va., Miss Patricia Rarish of Edenton, - Miss Beechye - Lou Ward of 'Ryland, Mrs. Beverly Flowers of Raleigh. A bridal luncheon was given at the Whistling Pines Restaurant by Mrs. Thomas Leary, Mrs. H.T. Hollowell Jr. and Mrs. James C. Hollowell, all aunts of the bride. The bridegroom's parents en tertained at a rehearsal dinner Nov. 27. A rehearsal party was given at the Hobbsville Baptist Church Social Hall later in the evening by Mrs. Frank Roun tree, Mrs. Wallace Mathias and Miss Elaine Mathias. The meeting was called to order by the president, Susan Rogerson. We said the pledges to the flags. The group prayed the Lord's Prayer. The roll was called. New business included Mrs. Earline C. White mentioning the date for Achievement Night, November 29, 1971. The group will elect new officers at the next meeting. We talked of bicycle safety. Refreshments were served and the meeting was adjourned by Susan Rogerson. Reporter-Paige Elliott Christmas Demonstrations College of The Albemarle, through its Adult Education Division, will offer two non credit Christmas Demon strations on December 8 at the Arts and Crafts Center on South Road Street. The first, Cake Decorating, will be given from 9 a.m. to 12 noon by Mrs. Jeanne Clubb. Waldo Smith gave the devotional. Linda Lou Ownley presented the program with her public speaking speech that won district competition in 4-H this year. Entertainment was presented by Barry Lane, Debbie" Lane, and Cathy Sawyer. The County Champion cer tificates were presented by Mr. Billy Griffin, Assistant County Agent.
