Yearly Meeting, Hershel Hill spent the weekend with Mr. andMrs. William Winslow. The Chamber Has Typical Year (Continued from page 1 ) membership drive - it gave a vote of confidence to 1st District Highway Commisioner Joe Nowell - it publicized and promoted the ground breaking ceremonies for the New Don Juan plant - the same for the Governor's Award - it worked with the Industrial Develop ment Commission - it helped promote sales projects - it continued to act as agent for the license bureau. It helped the county receive a great amount of publicity by its sponsorship of Sybil Jean Bateman in the North Carolina Miss Teen-Age a America pageant. The publicity was in many newspapers, on radio and on two television stations. In initiated not one, not two -but three ribbon -cutting ceremonies (a sure sign of progress) for the Webb Car Wash, new Super Dollar Store and Phillips Brothers Fur niture. And there are the many 'routine' jobs the Chamber handles. Every piece of correspondence, much from potential residents and-or tourists is answered in dividually; requests from school children for information about the county is answered; many phone calls are handled; inquiries from a variety of organizations are taken care of. New brochures were made up this year and distribution on them has begun. They're attention-getters, and should be, because they're very important to the county.
