HOME FOR WEEK-END Charles Eley, who is at tending Patrolman's School in Chapel Hill, spent the week-end here with his family. Mr. And Mrs. John White, Jr. Honored On Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John Desmond White, Jr., were honored on their fiftieth wedding an niversary on Sunday, January 9, 1972 at a reception hostessed by their children Mrs. Ralph Layden, Mrs. Raeford Bowen, and John Desmond White, III at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Layden, Rt. 3, Hertford. Mr. and Mrs. White's grand children assisted the hostesses in serving. Others assisting were Mrs. Julian White, Mrs. Louis Howell, Mrs. Woodrow White, Miss Ann Carol Williams, and Miss Janet Bunch. Mrs. White wore a pink dress with pink buttons softened at the neck with a pink scarf and an orchid corsage. The fifty year motif was carried out with arrangements of yellow snapdragons flanked by yellow candles. Approximtely one hundred fifty friends and relatives called between the hours of two and five. Out of town guests attending were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ward from Richmond Va., Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thomas from Portsmouth, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Charles White, Suffolk, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph White and Jimmie, Newport, News, Va., and Mrs. Frank White and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dudley from Chesapeake Va., Mrs. Mary H. Layden, Mrs. Edgar Berry and Masonry In Hertford A "Masonry" course, coor dinated by the Adult Education Division of College of The Albemarle, will begin Thurs day, January 27, at 7 p.m. at the Perquimans High School Vocational Center. The course will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday night from January 27 to March 9. This skill course is designed to help citizens enhance their homes with storage buildings, walks, barbeque pits and so forth. A registration fee of $2.00 will be charged. Williams Jr. was solemnized Saturday afternoon at half after four o'clock in Bagley Swamp Weslyan Church. Rev. W. F. PaigeA assisted by Dr. R. W. x Kicklighter, performed the double-ring ceremony in a candellight setting of mums and calla 1 illies and palms. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Smith of Winfall. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Williams of 708 N. Road St. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a chapel length dress of bridal satin and chantilly lace which featured a wedding ring neckline, empire bodice and long bouffant sleeves enhanced with lace. The A line skirt was appliqued with . lace down the front and on the scalloped hem. Her cathedral length mantilla was highlighted by lace and attached to a crown of satin. She carried a semi cascade bouquet of phalaenapsis, stephanotis and orchids. Mrs. C. D. White of Hampton, Va., sister of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Gayle Smith of Winfall, sister of the bride, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Elaine Dixon of Hertford, Miss Shelia Gregory of Elizabeth City and Mrs. Diane Mitchell of Dum pries, Va. Junior bridesmaids were Crystal and Valerie Smith of Hertford and Sherry Williams of Elizabeth City. The attendants wore identical floor length gowns of go'.J velvet featuring a high neckline and fitted empire bodice with lace trimmed front. Their bouffant veils of illusion were attached to gold velvet bows and golden leaves. They carried bouquets of long stemmed calla lillies tied with bows of moss green velvet with streamers falling to the hem of the gowns. Mr. Williams was best man for his son. Ushers were Frank. K. Williams of Elizabeth City, Bobby Powell of Norfolk, Andy Smith of Winfall and Harvey Roberts of Shawboro. Mrs. Frank K. Williams of Elizabeth City was mistress of ceremony. The couple will make their home at 802 Maple St., Elizabeth City. A floating miscellaneous shower was held at the Winfall Community Building given by friends and relatives.
