The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Smith Temple of Rt. 5, Elizabeth City. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Baxter Weeks of the same address and the late Jay Stallings of Gates County. Rev. Graham Nickens of ficiated at the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with white gladiolis. mums, pom poms and candle palms. J.J. Harris, Jr. provided the wedding music. The vocal music was provided by Mrs. Calvin Hudson. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a formal white silk chiffon dress over bridal taffeta. The dress was fashioned with a high neckline, bib front of Venice lace, or namented with a row of buttons and Doman sleeves. A full A line skirt featuring a wide waist band of Venice lace trimmed with small bow. The chapel length train was of matching Venice lace edged with beaded pearls. Her fingertip veil was of Venice lace attached to a headpiece of lace embroidered with pearls. Only ornament of the bride was diamond cavalier worn by her maternal grand mother on her wedding day. She carried a white Bible covered in lace topped with sweetheart roses and miniature carnations. Miss Mary Sharber of Rt. 5, Elizabeth City was maid of honor. The maid of honor wore a gown of yellow and white flock nylon over taffeta fashioned with a high neckline, empire waistline and long full sleeves with deep cuffs with pearl buttons. The waistline was accented with velvet ribbons forming a bow in back. She wore a matching bow in her hair. She carried a white basket of orchid pom and yellow and white daisies. The bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids wore a lavender gown of the same style as the maid of honor and also carried a white basket with yellow and white daisies and matching bows in her hair. Donald Brown of Hampton was best man. Willie Temple, brother of the bride of Rt. 5, Kevin Weeks of Rt. 5, Johnnie Temple of Raleigh and Malcum Stallings were ushers. Mrs. Tommie Temple, aunt of the bride, was mistress of ceremony. Mrs. Otis Bunch, sister of the bridegroom, was mistress of ceremony also. The bride's mother wore a blue polyester eyelet coatdress with matching acessories and pink cymbidium orchid cor sage. A reception immediately following the ceremony was held in the church social hall. The couple traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for their wedding trip. Grants Two grants totaling $70,822 have been awarded the East Carolina University Depart ment of Health and Physical Education. An Emergency School Assistance Act (ESAA) Grant of $54,822 from the U.S. Office of Education is to be used for a cooperative recreation program with Greenville elementary schools. Project Director Ernest Ernest Schwarz said the program will involve in-class and after-school recreation activities for fourth, fifth and sixth grade pupils directed by 40 ECU physical education majors. The program will begin this October and continue throughout the school year. Dr. Schwarz said a variety of recreational activities, in cluding swimming, will be offered to the students. The grant will include tran sportation for participants and evening workshops for their parents.
