S windell Married In a ceremony characterized by dignity and simplicity, Misi Sheron Lynn Swindell became the bride of Ronnie Martin Barnard Saturday at S p.m. in the First United Methodist . Church, Hertford. The vows were spoken in a setting of candlelight and altar baskets of white gladioli, baby's breath, stock and pink daisies. The Rev. Milton T. Mann of-' ficiated at the double ring :, ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Marion S. Swindell of Hertford and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Alton Barnard of Shiloh. A program of pre-nuptial music was presented by Mrs. W.R. McDuffie, organist, an . aunt of the bride from Macon. Ga., and Robert McDuffie, violinist, a cousin of the bride. During the service, violin solos played by Mr. McDuffie were Concerto No. 2, Opus 22, Andante by Wleniawski and as a prayer, "Oh Perfect Love". Air from "Water Music Suite" and Processional in G. Major were used for the ; ... processionals and "Now Thank We All Our God" was used as ' the recessional. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white voile over taffeta fashioned with an empire waist and full gathered skirt ending in three tiers of ruffles. The bodice was accented with swirls of Venise lace and a high ruffled neck. Her full bishop sleeves S ' ended in deep cuffs of ruffles and Venise lace. Tiers of ruffles edged the detachable cathedral length train. She wore a three tier elbow length veil of silk illusion held ; by a Venise lace headpiece topped with an organdy bow. Her flowers were a cascade of white bridal roses and pink daisies. The bride carried a lace handkerchief her mother carried on her wedding day. Honor attendant for her sister was Miss Nancy Elizabeth Swindell. She wore a floor length dress of green and white flocked nylon over taffeta fashioned with an empire waist accented with a bow in the back, a high ruffled neck and a full skirt ending in a ruffle. The full length sleeves ended in ruffles over the wrist. Her white garden hat was accented with a matching band fashioned with a bow and streamers in the back.. She carried a white basket of multi colored daisies. : Bridesmaids were Mrs. Jerry Williams of Bethel, sister of the T groom, Miss Ann Sawyer of Huntsville, Ala. and Miss Marie Sienkiewicz of Greensboro, cousins of the bride and Miss Linda Krauseof Elizabeth City. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Anita Barnard of Shiloh, sister of the groom. They wore gowns of rainbow colors fashioned like that of the honor attendant. Their hats and bouquets were also like those of the honor attendant. Mr. Barnard served as best man for his son. Ushers were W. Larry Swindell of New Bern, brother of the bride; Johnny Berry of Camden, Steve Powers of Suffolk and Roy Riddick of Elizabeth City. Her sleeveless chiffon coat was trimmed with imported English lace and a front bow. She wore matching accessories and a white cym bidium corsage. Mrs. Barnard chose a street length dress of mint green . polyester fashioned with full chiffon sleeves. The bodice was accented with swirls of Venise lace. I . . Following the; wedding, the bride's parents entertained at a reception In the church social hall. ' Following a wedding trip to the mountains of Western N.C., the couple will live in Norfolk. The bride, graduate of Perquimans Coiihly High School, attended Western Carolina University and College of the Albemarle. The groom graduated from Camden High School and College of the Albemarle and attended Old Dominion University. He is employed by General Electric Cor poration in Portsmouth. 1 Prior to their wedding, the couple were entertained at several parties: - !' The rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at the Camden Masonic Lodge. The bridesmaids' luncheon was held at the Holiday Inn. Hostesses were Mrs. Henry Sienkiewicz and Miss Maria Sienkiewicz of Greensboro and Mrs. W.R. McDuffie and Miss Kathy McDuffie of Macon, Ga. The bride was honored at a kitchen shower given by Mrs.. Henry C. Stokes, Jr. and Mrs. Jim Robertson at the Stokes' home. A dinner was given for the couple at the summer cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith, Sr. on the Perquimans River. Co-hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Hudson and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robert son. . A cook-out was given by Miss Lydia Stallings and Mr. Gene Perry at the Stallings home. A floating miscellaneous shower was held in the social hall of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Hostesses were Mrs. C.C.
