Church St., died Tuesday morning at 12:45 in the Albemarle Hospital following a two month illness. A native of Gates County, he was the husband of the late Alpine Ownley Hollowell and son of the late Luke and Mrs. Dixie Wright Hollowell. He was the retired president of Hollowell Chevrolet Company and was active in real estate development, having developed th Rosewood section in Elizabeth City. Mr. Hollowell was a member and former Sunday School superintendent of the Hertford Baptist Church, a charter member and past president of the Hertford Lions Club and a former chairman of the Perquimans County Board of Elections. Surviving are a son, Robert L. Hollowell of Hertford;, a daughter, Mrs. Ruth H. Stevenson of Naples, Fla., a sister, Mrs. Ira H. Eure of Hobbsville; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 in Cedarwood Cemetery by the Rev. Norman Harris. Swindell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. VISITS IN GOLDSBORO Mrs. ; F.T. ' Opera Star Appears At ECSU Lyceum Margaret i Tynest soparano, with the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna, appeared in the first Elizabeth City State University ' Lyceum Com mittee' series held Wed nesday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. in Moore Hall auditorium. Ms, Tynes has been labeled by Time Magazine as "the girl with veins of fire." A native of Virginia, she earned her B.S, degree at A& T University in Greensboro, did additional study and earned her Masters degree from Columbia University. . According to her press agent, Ms. Tynes always wanted to be a singer and it was the encouragement of her teachers at the Julliard School in New York City, which directed her towards a professional singing career. Her first major produc tion was the title role in Strauss' "Salome" at the Spoleto Festival. From there she did Lady Macbeth in Verdi's "Macbeth," in , Switzerland.
