Dems To
Meet
The Honorable Walter B.
Jones, Congressman of the
First Congressional District
will serve as official host of
a Democratic Workshop for
Ken Kinion of Edenton,
North Carolina, and
Chairman of the First
Congressional District Teen
Dems, at the Town and
Country Restaurant in
Williamston, North Carolina
on October 26th, 1974, from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The pur
pose of the workshop is to
develop interest in
establishing Teen Dem
Clubs in every county in the
twenty-one county district.
At the present time Chowan
County is the only chartered
club in the district.
The planned program
includes a speech on the
topic "A renewed interest in
our youth" by Congressman
Jones, The Organizational
Structure of Teen Dems by
Ben Utley, Executive
Director of the North
Carolina Democratic
Executive Committee and
The Role of the Advisor by
William Culpepper, III,
attorney of Edenton.
Congressman Jones will
serve as moderator of the
adult seminar following the
speeches, and Ben Utley,
Bill Culpepper, and Ken
Kinion will be moderators of
the teenage seminar.
Following the luncheon, a
Teenage Rap Session will
be held for teenagers to talk
with Congressman Jones
personally.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve
, Satisky, adult advisors of
) the North Carolina State
Association of Teen Dems,
will be guest for the
workshop.
Each County Democratic
Chairman is to attend and
take teenage represen
tatives. Any teenager in
terested in attending should
call their County District
Chairman soon. The number
of representatives is limited
because of accommodations
reserved. Every
Democratic Chairman is
urged to attend or send a
representative in his place.
WITN Television Station
will cover this event. The
luncheon will be $3.00 per
person.

Michael R. Andrews was

driver's license for a period
of 12 months;
Thomas Lawson Bulla
was found not guilty of not
having a current inspection
sticker;
Barry Ford, charged with
assault on a female,
creating a public distur
bance, and resisting an
officer, was given a
fine of $100.00 and
costs and placed on
probation for a period of 5
years;
James Thomas Rennie,
charged with order to show
cause (non-support), was
ordered to pay $100.00 im
mediately and $100.00 on the
first of each month until
further orders of the court;
James Phillip Keel,
charged with driving Under
the influence, received a
sentence of 6 months
suspended upon payment of
$200.00 and costs and or
dered to surrender his
driver's license for 12
months. An appeal was
noted and the case was
placed on the Superior Court
Docket for trial;
Randy Joe Mills was
taxed with costs on a charge
of failure to drive on the
right side of the highway;
David Stanley Riddick,
charged with reckless
driving, received a fine of
$50.00 and costs;
Richard Lee Skinner and
Charles White, Jr., both,'
charged with breaking into
a coin operating machine,
were given 12 months road
sentences. An appeal was
noted in each case and the
cases were placed on the
Superior Court Docket for
trial;
William Clair Ritter, Jr.,
was taxed with costs on a
speeding charge;
Joseph Irvin Meads was
found not guilty of failure to
drive on the right side of
highway;
Reginald Levon Skinner
was found not guilty of
improper passing;
Mickey Tyrone Overton
was taxed with a fine of
$50.00 and costs on a
speeding charge.

Woodland Clinic
At Camp Cale
The thirteenth annual
Albemarle FFA Woodland
Clinic was held Thursday,
October 17th, at Camp Cale
on Perquimans County with
five high schools in the area
participating.
The event is sponsored
annually by the Albemarle
Soil and Water Conservation
District with the
cooperation of the
Vocational Agricultural
teachers, the N.C. Forest
Service, Union Camp
Corporation and Jones
Lumber Company. The N.C.
Forest Service sets up the
contest and supervises the
event, whereas the cash
prizes are donated by Union
Camp Corporation and
Jones Lumber Company..
The FFA team from
Knapp High School in
Currituck County won first
place, Perquimans County
team won second pleace,
and Northeastern High
School in Pasquotank won
third place.
The first place team
received $25.00 award,
second place $18.00 and third
place $12.00.
Arnold Parker of the
Northeatern FFA team was
high scorer in the event and
received an award of $5.00.
The objectives of the
contest is to stimulate in
terest in forestry as an in
tegral part of a course in
vocational agriculture and
as a profession. To develop
reasonable abilities
necessary in managing
forests, and to develop
reasonable skills needed in
the application of the
principle a of managing,
measuring and marketing
forest products.
The contest consists of
four events. Each boy
competes in events which
test his skill in sawtimber
extimation, pulpwood
estimation, timber
marking, and tree iden

obtaining greatly needed
audio-visual equipment.
The program. Labels for
Education, is sponsored by
Campbell Soup Company
and offered to elementary
schools both private and
public. "Between now and
, December 31 we hope to
collect enough Campbell's
Soup labels to earn several
head sets" said PTA
President Gay Mann. "Our
students are saving their
labels and they would ap
preciate it if friends of the
school would do the same.'f
Any Campbell's Soup or
Beans label counts in the
drive. More than 110 audio
visual and athletic
equipment items are being
offered. A participating
school sends in the assigned
number of labels for the
