TTie Perquimans County Jaycettes undertook their first major
sole project Saturday night when that organization sponsored a
Valentine's Dance with the theme, "Cupid's Fung." Up to this
point, other projects and activities undertaken by the club have
been of the Jaycee assistance type.
The dance was held at the Snug Harbor Club House and advance
tickets for eighty couples were sold.
It is hoped that the Valentine's Dance will become an annual
event. If the response to the first is any indication, it will.
' The entire club put in many hours and volunteered much time to
make Cupid's Fling a success. Girls in charge of special
committees were as follows : overall chairman. Louise Ward and
co-chairman Anna Hurdle; seating arrangements, Kay Winslow;
"food chairman, Ann Winslow and co-chairman Sharon Tunnell;
tickets, Sylvia Barnes and Jonetta Long; decorations chairman
Kathy Newbern and co-chairman Brenda Hollowell; Clean-up
chairman, Cathy Wilder.
Music was provided by "Solid Gold." During an intermission, ;
four boxes of Valentine's candy were auctioned. Chairman for this
was Betty Hare.
' The "Cupid's Fling" is now just a memory, but one that will
remain in the minds of those who attended for some while. '

CUPIDS AND HEARTS The theme of the first annual Valentine's Dance, sponsored
by the Perquimans County Jaycettes, was "Cupid's Fling." Snug Harbor Club House,
the cite of the dance, was transformed into a red and white dream with fanciful cupids
and hearts. This fireplace mantle display was done by Brenda Hollowell, decoration co-chairperson.

FOOD GALORE The food table was well stocked for the Saturday night Cupid's Fling.
As well as being pleasing to the eye, the appetizers were also pleasing to the taste and the
spot seemed to be a popular one for the evening. Jaycette Ann Winslow served as food
chairman for the refreshments donated by the girls.
