April 22, 1974 WhiieyDay Wedding Held, Sunday The wedding of Miss Peggy Faye White and Lieutenant Albert Wayne Day was solemnized at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 in the First United Methodist Church in Hertford. The Rev. Milton T. Mann performed the double ring ceremony in a candlelight setting of palms, white gladiolus, pom poms, mums and daisies. , . Wedding music was presented by Miss Caroline Wright, organist and Mr. W.H. Matthews, Jr., soloist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Ray White of "Hertford. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. O.J. Day and the late Mr. Day of Fayetteville, N.C. . Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white silk organza and Venice lace featuring a Vic torian neckline, sheer yoke, fitted bodice with lace overlay, Bishop sleeves edged in lace. The A-line skirt with lace edg ed flounce hem extended into a chapel train. Her elbow length veil of silk illusion was edged in matching lace and attached to a pearl beaded band. She carried a nosegay of white daisies and baby's breath. Mrs. John Blalock Jr. of Columbia, S.C. was her sister's matron of honor. She wore a full length, green dotted swiss viole gown, flock printed with white daisies, featuring a square neckline and capelet sleeves. The gathered skirt featured a sash at the waist and a deeply flounced hem. She wore a white braided picture hat banded in matching voile and carried a basket of white daisies, baby's breath and rib bon streamers. The bridesmaids, dressed identical to the matron of honor were, Miss Doris Day of Fayetteville, N.C, sister of the groom, Miss Karen Haskett of Athens, Ga., and Mrs. Kim Rose of Hertford. Honorary bridesmaids were Miss Suzanne Garner of Raleigh, Miss Carol Reeves of Greensboro, and Miss Charlotte Swayze of Newport News, Va. Lieutenant Joseph Day of Shreveport, La. served as his brother's best man. Ushers were, Mr. Larry Hodges of Fayetteville, N.C, Mr. Andy Day of Ringgold, Va., and Mr. Jim White of Charlotte, N.C. ' Mistresses of the ceremony were Mrs. Charles Smith and Mrs. Billy Williams of Hertford. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. White wore a formal gown of mint green polyester knit featuring a wing style col lar accented with a soft chiffon scarf, long full sheer sleeves with knit cuffs and an A-line skirt. She wore a white cym bidium orchid corsage. .The groom's mother chose a formal gown of pale yellow ployester knit with mandarin collar, long full sheer sleeves and accordion pleated skirt. The waist was accented with matching seed pearls. She wore a yellow cymbidium orchid corsage. During the recesssional the church bell was rung by Cliff Haskett. A recetpion was held in the fellowship hall of the church. For a wedding trip to Florida the bride chose a light green pants suit with coordinated floral print blouse. The bride is a graduate of East Carolina University and has been employed as a first grade teacher at Selma Elementary School, Selma, N.C. The groom is a graduate of East Carolina University and recently graduated from pilots school at Webb Air Force Base, Big Spring, Texas. . The couple will be making their home in Merced, Califor nia where Lt. Day will be attending B-52 pilot training at Castle Air Force Base. Pre-Nuptial Parties Prior to the wedding a kitchen shower was given by Miss Carol Reeves and Miss Suzanne Garner in Raleigh. The bride was entertained at a luncheon by her co workers of the Selma Elementary School in Selma. A miscellansous shower was given in Hertford by Mrs. Extension Clubs Meet For Annual County Program Members of the Per quimans County Extension Homemakers Club recently got together for their Annual Achievement Program. . The call to order and welcome was given by Mrs. Willima Modlin, President of the Perquimans County Extension Homemakers Council. Mrs. Dan Berry of the Helen Gaither Club gave the devotional. The County Program of Work report was given by Mrs. Donald Madre, first vice-president. She displayed a flag that she had knitted and added thir teen stars as she gave a pro gress report for the county's work during the year. Ms. Jemima James, 1975 State International Chair man of Elizabeth City, was guest speaker and by way of slides, she took the group to Australia to attend the ACWW (Associate Club Women of the World) Inter national meeting.
