Mr. and ' Mrs. Thomas Proctor attended the Graduation Ceremony of their son, Wayne, who received bachelor of arts degree in theology from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Okla. The Proctors , took a flight to Tulsa and returned by automobile. Mr. Wade Jordan was ad mitted to the Chowan Hospital as a patient on Saturday. Mr. M. L. Watkins con tinues to be a patient at Chowan Hospital where he is reported to be improving. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Nelson spent the day Saturday in Portsmouth, Va. visiting their grandson, Joey Whiteston Homemakers Have Recent Meeting The Whiteston Homemakers Club members agreed they were today's typical American that needed to read more news and less comics, when they took the Citizenship 'Quiz at their meeting recently in the home of Mrs. Annie Mae Baker. Their spirits were somewhat lifted when Mrs. Paige Under wood gave her "two cents worth." She demonstrated making a bottle doll and everyone likes arts and crafts. She dressed the doll in red, white and blue, gave her a flag and called her Betsy Ross. Mrs. Louise Stallings gave a very inspiring reading on "Are You a Hung-up Homemaker?" . National Homemaker 's Club week was discussed and Mrs. Underwood urged the members to participate in some way. She announced the window in Blanchard's V Store in Hertford was filled .to demonstrate all areas of club work,, and spoke of the upcoming District Craft Workshop. Mrs. Archie White brought each member a quart of fresh strawberries from her garden. Mrs. Mar jorie Winslow shared the idea to record in the year book what was done during the month and it would be much easier to make the score sheet at the end of the year.' Phillips, Jr. . and Mrs. Charles Phillip were honorees at a Stork shower given for them Thursday night They were showered with gifts for their expected events at the home of Mrs. Willis A. Proctor. Other hostesses were Mrs.. George Drawdy, Mrs, Irvin Long, Jr. Mrs, Thomas Har ris, and Mrs. Willis Proctor, Jr. The delicious refreshments carried the color theme of pink, blue and white. r Mrs. Jayne Keeter of Wake Forest, N.C. attended her son Jeffs graduation from The College of The Albemarle Wednesday evening. Phillips, Jr. on the birth of a son, Jason Carl, born Saturday at 4 p.m. in Chowan Hospital, : Edenton, N.C. Jason weighed in at 6 lbs. and 13 ozs. Both mother and son are doing nicely. Snug Harbor Chapel Vespers will be held this week at the home of Mr and Mrs. L. L. Pritchard. The services are held each Thursday evening beginning at 7:30. A warm welcome is extended. (COA Photo) OUTSTANDING YOUNG MAN Wayne Ray Winslow of Greenville has been named lone of the ' Outstanding Young Men of America for 1976. Winslow is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Winslow of Rt I, Belvidere. In a letter of notification the OYM chariman said, "Only a select number of young men from the entire United States will receive this distinc- -tive honor for their excellence in both professional endeavors and civic participation. These men who work diligently to make their cities, as well as their country, better places in which to live, are outstanding and deserve to be recognized." Winslow is an accoun tant for students in the loan and grant department at East Carolina University in Greenville. He is married to the former Sandra White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.P.
